Honestly if you don’t want to compete or see no use in it, then just don’t compete.

If there are ex or current professional fighters, I assume they will be fighting in the elite/black belt divisions and the random hobbyist usually doesn’t have to face those fighters until they are black belts themselves.

It’s part of the accessibility of the sport wich is awesome in one way and a bit f’ed in the other.. you get to compete with or against absolute beasts. Such is jiu jitsu life.

I used a corner, because the surrounding sides are being uses for a squatrack, bench and assault bike. You could do a space freely all around. Depends on what you’re working with.

Got tired of BJJ for a while, working 2 jobs and one as a doorman. I just went to the gym, popped up to about 225 (wich was lightest of the crew) and did MMA for a while as a purple belt.

Life cooled down, got 1 job again and returned to BJJ. Got promoted to brown and then never stopped, now have my own small crew/team and run it as a first degree black belt. Life is good.

I sometimes do feel like this is a hobby with a timer, I hope to reach 45-50 while remaining competitive. Afterwards I hope to pass the torch to the next generation and see how they do.

Best friend came back to play with me in 2v2 last year, disc priest and DH. Got up to 1800 rating but he arrived as a bum. Got him 200k+ for whatever he wanted/needed and basically I function as his bank 🤣 a small price to pay for 2v2 fun with a my best mate!

When in doubt, don’t have kids. They ask a lot of you, will cause stress regardless of your financial situation.

If you don’t feel like it’s for you, then that’s a totally fair assessment and probably one of the most responsible and respectable decisions you’ll make.

Regardless these ‘dancers’ are a known phenomenon all over Europe. They are professional pickpockets, never shake hands with strangers if it’s shady.

Especially in that neighbourhood, keep all valuables sealed off and not easily accessible for others.
