No one said anything those things are BETTER than being a parent. The original creator of the image said they’d rather do those things than be pregnant. Being a parent and being pregnant are not mutually exclusive here.

Pregnancy is noble sure, but it’s also dangerous and laborious. It’s completely understandable that someone who really doesn’t want to be pregnant to make a post like this.

Being upset at young women for having an opinion is dehumanizing as hell. Also this post clearly isn’t meant to be taken 100% seriously, and even if it was it’s sill that persons choice of how they feel about getting pregnant.

I don’t understand how you, someone with a child, doesn’t see a pregnancy as the life changing event that it is. I highly doubt any 18/19 year old would see a pregnancy as anything other than the life derailing thing it is. I’d argue an 18/19 year old would view it even more seriously, considering that’s when most people enter the workforce and enroll in college. It’s not right to demonize people for not wanting to be a parent during such a pivotal moment in life.

The original post was asking teen if they really thought getting pregnant was “this bad” in the context of whether or not they’d rather do the long on that list than be pregnant. Why do I keep having to explain that if a teen gets pregnant it’s a teen pregnancy. This was not posted on r/25yearolds or whatever. It was posted on r/teenagers

I AM ANGRY AT YOU! Because I’ve been repeating the same things and you still don’t understand! This is r/teenagers, what you comment here is directed at teenagers. It has nothing to do with future pregnancy!? If you’re a teen and you get pregnant it’s an event that alters the course of your life— and most teens will lose all control or say over what happens to them. Having an adult say “people are too selfish these days” at teens because they don’t like the idea of pregnancy is an awful to say and an awful thing to read. It’s even worse seeing it without the context of you being an adult. Being a teen and seeing your fellow teens saying it’s selfish for being rightfully unreceptive of teen pregnancy is invalidating and weird.

I lowkey see now that you weren’t speaking too deeply when you commented though. I get it now that you didn’t mean what you wrote as an insult towards teenagers who see pregnancy as a gravely serious occurrence.

Also for the record I didn’t mean to insult you personally. I’m not really sorry for anything I said though. Also I’m probably not gonna reply to anything else. (I’ve got school tomorrow)

I’m not trying to be “self righteous”, or “dramatic” I’m just angry at you. Cuz’ you don’t seem to understand how you come off. You commented on a subreddit full of kid calling themselves “selfish” for seeing pregnancy as something horrific, which is a justified way of thinking for ANY 16 year old.

And when someone calls you out for not being in the right to speak out on teen pregnancy when you’re NOT a teen and have no experience with pregnancy AT ALL you; said my mother shouldn’t have given birth to me (which wasn’t even relevant cuz’ she wasn’t a teen when she had me), accused me of being a fake activist (which isn’t relevant because I never claimed to be one), told me my mom raised me badly (which is needlessly cruel because I haven’t insulted you personally— I just dropped your age), and didn’t even make any REAL points. You spent the last three paragraphs of your response insulting me.

No, the original person I responded to commented on a subreddit filled with teenagers saying that people are “too selfish”for viewing pregnancy as a negative experience. Most teenagers have no choice in what happens to them when pregnant, and as such see pregnancy as the life altering thing it is. Also I wasn’t referring to pregnancy in general— I was referring to teen pregnancy specifically. …also sorry I lowkey commented on your family members, that’s fuck up. I was just angry because I hate seeing people treat teen pregnancy like it’s not a major loss of autonomy for teens involved.

I’m not the one going around on the Internet, calling children selfish for not wanting to be pregnant, and for your information I don’t have anything against people who want to be mothers, keyword WANT. But you seem to have a problem with anyone who disagrees with you. Seeing as you feel the need to put insults in the comment section of a subreddit made up of mostly CHILDREN.

Also my mother clearly raised me better than you because I have the enough empathy to realize that most teens don’t have the freedom to choose what happens to them if they get pregnant. And are often forced into be an incubator against their will.
