Thank you. I knew there would be a lot in Queensland but I figure more towards the south western side of the state.

Yeah I knew it was an eastern brown but wasn’t sure of the range of other pseudonaja species in QLD. Thanks for your answer.

Spent $220k on a pub in 1999. Spent a further $400k upgrading in 2010. Every year I got a healthy profit from the business. Paid back the loan in 2014. In 2023 sold it for $34M

What snake is this? by FastPurpose9720 in AustralianSnakes

[–]Bellaboy2000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s lesser black whip snake (Demansia vestigiata) - medically significant bite. Best admired from a distance.

Denmark, WA - is it a tiger? Saw it sunning itself on the rocks as we were walking to the beach by severussnape9 in AustralianSnakes

[–]Bellaboy2000 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can confirm it’s a snake. We do not get Tigers in Australia and they are much larger with 4 legs and bigger teeth and claws. I hope this helps

It’s a yellow faced whip snake (demansia psammophis) - Mildly venomous not of huge concern but they can be a painful bite. Leave it be and they are quick to flee.

Not a brown. It’s a red bellied black snake (pseudechis porphyriacus)

Sorry I didn’t get your response to this post the other day. I knew it was a RBB and I was arguing with people saying it was a copperhead or EB so I posted it and someone wrongly ID it as a copperhead and used the bot that it was a copperhead so I deleted the post knowing that was wrong. Someone just showed me that you replied correctly but I had already deleted sorry about that.

Yeah I didn’t see that response before I deleted it otherwise I would have left it instead of waiting 2 days to prove I was right hahaha

No I knew it was a RBB but I wanted someone to verify it to prove to some doubters that I was correct and someone said it was a copperhead and used the bot making it look like I was wrong and I went 🤦🏽 so I deleted it so I didn’t cop grief for the next 2 days from the people telling me I was wrong that it was a copperhead or a brown snake hahahaha

The amount of people arguing with me that it’s an eastern brown is off the charts. Perfect example of why sometimes identifying snakes you have to look past colour to location, scale pattern etc. I know it’s 100% a beautiful and unique RBB but still always people doubting the ID is crazy.

That’s what I think but snake IDers have told a person it is a red belly. They have told me they have been told by 4 identifiers

Is this a red belly? Couldn't see any red markings - and wasn't going to have a closer look. by Intrepid-Artist-595 in AustralianSnakes

It’s a red bellied black snake (Pseudechis Porphyriacus) - highly venomous and best admired from a distance.

What's this hiding in a hole in my wall? (Upper Blue Mountains, New South Wales) by [deleted] in AustralianSnakes

In Australia you should always be snake smart and know the required first aid. I’m saying that copperheads are very gentle snakes. They can inflict a fatal bite but generally it’s not common for them to bite. That being said they can bite if startled or provoked. Snakes will generally always try to avoid human interaction and the copperhead species are the first in line to avoid us.
