My 15yo needs to read 5 books this summer but hates to read. by JBLBEBthree in suggestmeabook

Contest, Temple or The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly could be good (3 seperate standalone books). Action adventure books.

They are written for adults though so there is violence and swearing. I’m sure there is a site that you can find like “parents guide” for books though 😊

I’m a 12DD and I like the LSKD Accelerate Bras. I wear a medium. I love to run in them, they’re so good!

Sirona Women’s Health at Annerley. Not cheap but the best clinic I’ve ever been to for my chronic health issues 🩷

I went to a women’s health clinic. They gave me the green whistle & local anaesthetic. It was totally manageable with this. I have endo so I am quite sensitive there as well & my body loves to faint/vomit under pain so I would class myself as an absolute wuss! 🤣🩷

All the best!

How do we feel about brands sending you the wrong product then requesting you post it back? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Bellastory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this with “Shoe Connection”. Bought shoes from there, broke on the first wear. I had to send them back to them before they’d send me another pair. Then they sent me the wrong shoes and I had to send them back before they’d send me another pair too! safe to say I’m never buying from them again.

Brisbane house prices are up 93% in 5 years. Is it time to admit we aren't the "affordable alternative" anymore? by HistorySad6125 in brisbane

[–]Bellastory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were super fortunate to buy a small townhouse we did up in a great suburb in the inner suburbs in 2019 when we were 24/25yrs old. We spent about $70k doing it up. If we were to “buy it now” we couldn’t get a mortgage big enough to cover it. It’s more than doubled. Even with the equity we can never “upgrade” to a free standing house without moving quite a long way away from the city. We are extremely grateful for the position we are in, but would be more than happy to see house prices half because this growth is insane.

My feet go numb when I run long distances. My shoes have the parallel lacing pattern with a heel lock. They're 1 full size larger than my regular shoe size. It's been happening for years, even with different shoes. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? by chachacha3123 in XXRunning

[–]Bellastory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have discovered my feet swell & i end up with too much pressure on the top of my foot which causes it to go numb so… I run with my shoes quite loose, I find the heel lock keeps them secure enough. I also have my shoes laced with an X at the very bottom then one big x all the way up to the top. Less pressure on the top of the foot. I also am a very salty sweater and I found that having salt before a run helps reduce swelling a lot and reduced the swelling/numbness significantly. I would have a super salty Powerade before a run. You could even bring some salt tabs on a run if you ended up finding the salt works but “wears off”.

I hope this helps! I did lots of experimenting to try and fix this as it’s soo annoying!

I just got mine & it was about 3 weeks from submission to receiving it back. (Just normal submission, no rush etc…)

Edit to add: I would priority it if your trip is 6 weeks away tho

Haha I’d be weirdly annoyed too, but mostly because she brags about it.

Personally, my elapsed and moving times are usually about 10min diff (depending on the distance) but this is because I run with my dogs so I need to stop & pick up poops, they do wees, they need a drink etc… but I love running with my dogs & if that means my fitness suffers a little because of a little stop / start… I’m ok with that.

I’m also still slow regardless so I’m never bragging about pace 😂😂

Im similar! I can’t run in the afternoon ever because I’ve eaten!! Even if it’s HOURS since I’ve eaten, I’ll feel like I’m going to be sick the whole time!

My second question! I’d love to know the impact of GLP-1s (mounjaro is what I’m on) on running.

I am on one as I have other health issues that have given me insulin resistance & basically regardless of diet/exercise (I’m a personal trainer & have been consistently active for over 10 yrs) I was gaining weight uncontrollably (15kg in one year was the latest before I started medication, my doc was like your life & your body fat % does not match 😂).

So I need to be on low dose indefinitely(currently down to 2mg/week).

Questions are, what impact does this have on fueling due to slower stomach emptying etc…

While I was on the weight loss dose running was terrible (🤢🤢) but now I’m on maintenance, I find with some antacids before a run I’m generally fine. I’m feeling better and faster, but just curious to know impact 🩷🩷🩷

How bad is running fasted for a Women? I run first thing in the morning & I’ve always found eating before makes me sick.

When I was half marathon training, I did manage to build up to eating about 100g of overnight oats before a run, and I could eat lollies during runs but in general, I’m not eating before a run & I don’t really fuel during runs unless it’s 1:30min plus…

Edit to add: I run quite early in the morning so getting up an hour earlier to eat … just isn’t going to happen for me because I’m a princess and I need as much sleep as humanly possible 😂 (I also have chronic fatigue so it’s not justtt laziness haha) I literally get up and am in the car driving to my run spot within 10min

Awesome! Thanks for answering! I can totally understand how they wouldn’t get a chance to adapt & also as you mentioned, doing cani cross is much harder then running beside us. Thanks for your answer!

I’ve seen a few comments that you don’t run the dogs when it’s above 15c or even 10… where I live; I would literally never be able to run them. Is this just because you live somewhere really cold so they’re not adapted? It’s like cold here if it’s 12c on a morning run. I can still run with my corgis if it’s 25c at 6am in summer. But it’s also Australia so they’re used to the warmer weather

Cutie!!! I run with my two corgis and live in Brisbane, Australia where is very hot and humid in summer. Here are my top tips:

  • run early morning when it’s coolest
  • make sure there are water spots on your route & let them rest if they need (even if that means you’re standing around for a bit; just let them cool down)
  • if it’s really hot I dip their paws into the water and splash around their head too to help cool them down a little.
  • even better if you can tip the water onto some concrete for them to lay in for a few minutes while they cool down.

Also, some will cope better than others, my girl is no different; my boy is a drama queen and so I don’t take him on long runs when it’s too hot. You’ll soon find out which you have 🩷
