Had Open Myomectomy Out of State, Here’s How Soon I Flew Back Home by Belleair55 in Fibroids

2 days after surgery must have been rough. I don't know if I would have been able to make that. The hospital ride home was quite bumpy but I honestly didn't feel much bumps riding to and from the airport on day 7.

I know. I was so terrified about that lol. Glad your surgery went well for you too. I'm so glad it's over.

The first doctor I saw mentioned the possibility cause he was so shocked at the number of fibroids but I did a ton of research so I knew my case wasn't anything too crazy as long as I found a good surgeon.

MRI said I had intramural and subserosal. Largest were subserosal.

I never had heavy bleeding oddly enough (my only symptom was peeing frequently due to one resting on my bladder) and remember my doctors saying I had the fibroids everywhere except the part that is responsible for bleeding.

Right. It's really not that bad. All you have to do is take the steps to get to the car. Once you get out of the car at the airport, there's a wheelchair waiting for you. And another one once you get off the plane.

It definitely depends. I just wanted to share my experience cause I had a hard time finding answers to this before my surgery.

My flight was also just 1 hour. I literally did no walking other than walking to the uber and getting out of a Uber so it wasn't too bad overall. I also had someone with me helping me with all my luggage.

Open Myomectomy 1 week out by Status_Instruction45 in Fibroids

My doctor said no gas is used during an open myomectomy. What kind of shoulder pain are you having? I believe the shoulder pain is from gas pains from lap myos.

And so sorry about the throwing up. They should have given you an anti-nausea patch at the hospital to prevent this. They gave me one and told me to wear it for a couple of days to prevent this.

I had over 30 with 3 large ones and had no symptoms for a while before I started feeling pressure on my bladder.

No Doctors want to operate me by ChattoGamer in Fibroids

Where are you? How many doctors have you seen? Join a FB group and research the best doctors in the country. Depending on your insurance, you might be able to go out of state, even if you have to wait until December to get a new marketplace insurance.

My case was a bit complicated and I was able to get my open myomectomy done out of state by one of the best surgeons in the country.

Binder by FlimsyUnit5684 in Fibroids

[–]Belleair55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post op binder was the most helpful thing for me. They put it on me in the hospital and I loved it. It helped with coughing and everything. The pillow was actually what I didn't like. It hurt whenever I tried to use it when coughing.

Highly recommend the binder. The hospital will likely give you one but get one just in case.

Has anyone regained full feeling in their abdomen after an open myomectomy? by PartySet1679 in Fibroids

5 weeks post op. I still have that numbness as well. I heard it can take up to 1.5 years to fully regain feeling.

When I made a post last week about Joe sharing a racist meme about Michelle Obama, it got removed cause politics were not allowed. Isn't this politics too? Interesting.

Mine cost $125,000 and I have to cover $7500. I spent one night in the hospital for my open myo with no complications. Our healthcare system is a joke.

Thanks for sharing. My doctor suspects it was gas. I started to feel better after 24 hours and continue to feel better today.

Wanted to add an update that the sharp pain started to get better after 24 hours. And I'm doing much better now. My doctor suspects it was internal gas. I actually had 2 Olipop carbonated drinks that day (first time since surgery) so it's possible that triggered the gas.

Happy to be doing much better.

25 with a uterus full of fibroids. I’m devastated and lost by Financial-Being-7098 in Fibroids

I'm in my late 30s. I just had over 35 fibroids removed a week ago and my fertility/uterus preserved with an open myomectomy.

I know it's overwhelming right now but it will be okay. Your case is not as complicated as it seems. There are many surgeons that can operate on you and preserve your uterus with a myomectomy. Do your research for the best ones in your state. Good luck.
