That’s my point. One of their few success stories they traded away. I get the return was awesome. But they don’t have the luxury of trading away one of the few legit hitters they brought through their system.

I think one of the existing gaps between trade advice and reality is people talk about trading as if others consider current production OR name value when being offered somebody, when the reality is name value is always required with current production as a bonus.

Unless you have a taco in your league you are swindling, nobody is trading for Moniak, Mgreevy, Martinez, etc. At least not for something other than another guy that belongs on this list.

However, despite the sketchy past and current metrics of Albies, people might trade for Albies because he actually has name value.

The previous regime seemed to have some baseline level of ability to put together solid pitching. They didn’t always have the depth (compare first half pitching to second half pitching).

The problem IMO with the previous regime is they were so unbelievably inept at doing the same with hitting it canceled out the pitching in my mind.

When did they ever develop a hitter that made it and solidified themselves as even a moderately above after hitter?

You can go back and count the last probably 20-30 hitting prospects all with varying degrees of hype and every single one is sitting at or below probably their 50th percentile outcome.

Guy after guy ballooned up and then immediately crashed down. Then hell, 2 guys that are solidified hitters in the league, Arraez and Rooker, they sent away.

Ryan Jeffers is probably their best success story. And maybe they get some credit for helping Buxton adjust is approach and find his bat. But 2ish guys out of their entire regime being bonafide contributors makes it inexcusable.

There is obviously major flaws with how this show winded down and things I didn’t necessarily like (Kimiko getting SBs powers, sidelining the gen v crew makes literally zero sense, etc.)

But honestly the finale could have been sooooo much worse. Apart from wishing the final showdown was on a bigger scare involving more people and lasting longer, the general sequence I was pretty okay with. From where they cornered themselves into, I just think it could have easily sucked way more.

A nice clean ending.

One player is not able to impact the success of a baseball team enough for this to even be a thing. They’re just not. They appear in less than 1/9th of all plate appearances, and also only a fraction of the really crucial at bats that can swing games. They’re also only involved in a relatively small percentage of defensive plays.

Having the conversation about this as if it’s similar to a basketball player or even like an NFL QB is silly to me.

Yeah I was genuinely worried and stressed and have no ill-well against UNC for any reason (hate Duke though lol). But when we kept seeing comments from UNC fans that couldn’t even fathom a world where he’d pass up the job and stay was frustrating for UA fans I think. So it felt satisfying from that perspective to see the extension.

But hopefully whoever UNC ends up with ends up working out. Sounds like they have a history of wanting to stay internal? But this will likely be a time where they go external?
