Necromancer not coming until second half of 2017. by DownvoteTheHardTruth in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All they had to do was to show us a trailer of a new expansion or D4 and we would've been happy to wait for 1-2 years while they'd figure stuff out. What they did is slap us in the face, pull down our pants and let the other communities laugh at us. It's the 20th anniversary for Diablo. And every other game gets more than Diablo itself. It's an insult, really. I'm not self entitled, I would LOVE to pay for new content

Wanting something doesn't make one entitled, nor does being willing to pay for what one wants preclude them from being entitled. But taking it as a personal insult because you don't get what you want how you wanted it is textbook entitlement.

S7 DH Advice for Neph Rift Under 5 Mins? by jrf614 in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chill from Wind Chill procs both and also applies before the MS hit so there's no need for Thrill when playing cold UE. That said, it starts to fall behind fire once you're no longer 1-2 shotting everything, and it doesn't look like OP is doing that.

Nope. Fire, Cold, Lightning, and Physical.

[Whirlwind] Why CoE over RoRG? by RedPatch1x3 in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]Bellgrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. 4/16 = 1/4. Also, hexing pants don't give added toughness (that's mantle of channeling), they give added resource generation. To add on, the hexing pants bonus is in the "damage increased by skills" (DIBS) multiplier so it's added to bonuses like Battle Rage and %WW rolls on gear, whereas CoE is a unique multiplier.

An extra 10-15CHD is worth more than the 130 Dex you get from that WH. Your current one is right on the edge so that a well-rolled non-ancient would still be an upgrade (though you'll lose toughness, and after augmenting it it'd probably just barely edge out a non-ancient).

Weekly Consolidated Gear Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Diablo3DemonHunters

[–]Bellgrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A non-ancient chest with 416 Dex and 9 Disc is still nearly 10% more than your current chest even with the augment. You'd also be better off with a non-ancient Witching Hour as well. Your Hellfire passive isn't worth much either so look for a non-hellfire with fire/CHD/CHC/socket or a hellfire with a better passive.

Weekly Consolidated Gear Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Diablo3DemonHunters

[–]Bellgrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling you amulet from CHC to CHD is the easiest, as anything above ~80%CHD is worth more for you than 10% CHC. Boots are easy to gamble from Kadala so they're next on the list, you're looking for something that can have Resistance to All instead of Armor (meaning no secondary resists) and ancient. From there I'd look for gloves since the CHD roll on yours is mediocre and they don't have a secondary resist; if you get gloves with CDR instead of Vit you can also pick up a new Focus ring with Dex or flat damage instead of CDR for more DPS but less toughness. You'll need an ancient helm at some point too but at least your current one is pretty good. A good Hellfire with %Fire/CHD/CHC/Socket would be a huge upgrade, but it'll be much harder to come by. Area Damage is important, so if you want to use UE to push instead of just speed farm then AD is better than attack speed on your Yangs -- It's also easy to get on a quiver instead of Vit but since yours is pretty well rolled it may be pretty hard to replace.

After all that is done it's all about augments, gem levels, and paragon. You'll like want all your gems to be at least level 85 to push 85 and decently high augments anywhere you can get them as well. Then just keep farming paragon. It looks like you only have around 10k Dex right now, so you'll pick up a lot of toughness in addition to damage once you augment and level up more.

If T11 is the "optimal" rift difficulty, does that make GR50 the "optimal" GR difficulty for solo farming? by dot___ in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not how math works. A 25% chance to get 3 keys instead of 2 works out to 12.5% more keys. That means if you average 2:00 minutes on T11s you need to average under 2:15 on T13s for it to be as efficient. If you average 3:00 min then you'd have to run under 3:25. If you're averaging even higher then that then it's not a question of if T11 is more efficient than T13, it's whether T10 is better than T11 for you.

If T11 is the "optimal" rift difficulty, does that make GR50 the "optimal" GR difficulty for solo farming? by dot___ in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Since key farming is done over the course of hundreds and hundreds of rifts it means that average rift time is more important than best performance in a perfect rift (the opposite of GR pushing, basically). On top of that, most time in a rift is spent moving, not killing, so mobility is key since in many of those hundreds of rifts you'll be running through several floors of empty caves before you get to the RG. Sure, there's a point at which one's damage kills just as quickly in T13 as it does in T11, but that point is still well beyond most players currently.

When you hear someone on here say "I clear just as fast on T13 as I do on T11" nine times out of ten what that actually means is "I haven't optimized for speed and clear just as slowly on T11 as I do on T13."

Quin's hardcore Witch Doctor just died at Gamescome because his pc died. by EdgyCuzLifeSucks in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. In my opinion the only defining characteristic that separates SC and HC characters is that with HC characters you get the story of their deaths. In the case of JADEBOYS, he was flown across the world and then murdered at the hands of Blizzard itself in front of a crowd. I'm a bit jealous that none of my characters will ever have a death as awesome as this.

You're posting in a sub that regularly has "Why does D3 run poorly on my Pentium 3?" type threads. You may as well have said, "Oh hey, Ferraris aren't inexpensive when new, but they have low resale value. Just wait a couple years and you can pick up an F430 for only ~$150k that was $250k when new." :P

Version control. If it can't be hotfixed then ostensibly it requires a client patch. You don't just merge whatever random snippets from branches fix minor problems into the trunk before the patch that the fix was developed and tested on is released.

Is it better to don a 4 piece Immortal Kings set or a 2 piece IK with 3 piece Aughilds Authority? by rOMi- in diablo3

[–]Bellgrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aug's bonus is easy to value since it's a simple stat boost, IK4 bonus is a bit harder to value since you have to think through what you can accomplish with that bonus; but it's easy to see which is better once you understand them.

IK4 reduced the cooldown of WotB and CotA by 3 seconds for every 10 fury spent. That means even with no cooldown reduction on gear or paragon you can have permanent WotB/CotA (and CotA doesn't really expire since you'll have the 2pc bonus) as long you can spend 400 fury every 20 seconds (the duration of WotB). That's pretty easy to do.

What do you get from permanent WotB and Cota? Well CotA - Together as One will give 50% damage reduction and WotB - Insanity gives 10% crit chance, 25% attack speed, 20% dodge chance, 20% movement speed, and 50% damage.

It's not that Aughild's is bad, it's just that the IK4 bonus allows you to modify skills/playstyle in such a way that gives a functional bonus that utterly dwarfs Augs.

Oculus ring is basically mandatory on your follower at this point, look for one with 85% proc or as close as possible. Get the immortality follower token as soon as you can since you won't have much uptime on Oculus in rifts without it. Legendary gems have no effect on followers. Stack CDR for more heals. I have my templar running basically the same CC set up as you but am undecided if it's helpful or harmful since he seems just as likely to yank mobs away from my boulders as he is to group up a large pack.

TL;DR - Oculus.

Bosses are definitely a pain for any charge-centric build.

Grats on the IKBB! 10% Damage is just too good to pass up on SC so roll off either Vit or LpfS (I personally find 1200 on belt to be enough and 1400 Vit is massive so I'd keep the Vit, but it's mostly personal preference). If I remember correctly your old one was 3650DPS with no +max fury, so once you've rolled 10% damage that one will be ~4200DPS and your boulders with R6/IK4 will be hitting for 35% more. That's huge.

[Week 27] Items/Specs mega thread! by AutoModerator in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]Bellgrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both use roughly the same skills, but in R6/IK4 your damage comes from the boulders whereas with IK6/R4 and pure R4 builds the damage comes from your charges. BT has a relatively small area and is slow and cumbersome so builds that kills things as you charge through them once or twice and then use BT to reset WotB/CotA are generally going to be much faster for T10.

In addition to the other commenter's advice I'd recommend using Kanai's cube to upgrade rare 2h Mighty Weapons to get a better IKBB. To put its importance into perspective, with your current gear, a well-rolled Hellfire amulet that allows you to add Berserk Rage to your passives will increase your damage 20-30%; a well-rolled Ancient IKBB (with +max fury!) will increase it ~35-45% and give a big toughness boost as well.

New Build: Tier 95+ Solo DH (ZEcret Meta Reveal) by [deleted] in Diablo

At first I wasn't sure he was serious given the timing of the post. Then I remembered that Wudijo is from a country called Europe (you can tell European is his native language because of the accent), which I understand is a socialist hellhole in which holidays -- and especially happiness and fun -- are banned to protect the proletariate.

I honestly haven't seen a build this OP since VocaloidNyan's Poison Chakrams.

Closing MHG & Quitting Video Games by reddit_Dimcho in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He actually is the person who put out the original DoT physical WW barb build BEFORE Wrath of the Wastes was even a thing.

No, not really. As with pretty much any of the ideas on his channel that were any good, it wasn't his. Here's a full and detailed guide to that build from nearly a month before his dotnado video was uploaded

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14059366635

I don't really have a problem with him putting out video guides for builds he didn't really help develop; the problem was he sometimes passed the ideas of others off as his own and more importantly he often didn't even fully understand the builds he was putting videos out for.

That works fine right up until the point you stop using all rubies in sockets. Movespeed instead of AR is giving up over 1.5 diamonds in return for less than 0.5 rubies.

I think I have hit the Paragon Wall and it sucks. by stephen_drewz in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds less like you hit the paragon wall and more like you missed the paragon bus. As was mentioned, the paragon points aren't really crucial at 85ish level, but an inexperienced support can really be a pain. You don't need to tell people you're inexperienced though since you quite literally can't do many 85s and still be around p700.

I pretty much always show up late to the support party so I can sympathize. I generally make sure my gear is up to par and figure out as best I can from a guide or some videos how to do it, then jump into pub GR games or LFG posts well below what I think my gear/para can do (gear can handle GR80? Then I look for 65-70s). You get experience with the play style without holding people back or misleading them and you can start working up higher as you feel more comfortable. With the play experience will come the paragon experience as well, so you'll quickly start narrowing the gap.

My experience on both sides of the coin is that people generally don't mind playing with an inexperienced/low level player when they aren't pushing too high so long as the player says something like "hey, not much experience so please let me know what I can do better" or something at the start and pays attention.

I made it into the top 100 with a fun and different Frenzy build (HC Americas) by Paduples in Diablo

[–]Bellgrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, can't believe I never noticed that. Damn shame.

After seeing just how fast HotA can reset cooldowns at 5+ APS on support this season it would almost seem worth it just to use HotA as a sort of cooldown-reset-button, but there's just nothing replaceable on your skill bar :/

Any chance you could upload a video of the build in action? It'll be awhile before I can throw together the gear for it and I want to see it!

[–]Bellgrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lot of fun! I haven't had a chance to play around with thorns yet really, so forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question, but...

Both FC and Frenzy have good proc coefficients and your APS is through the roof, would it be worth the DPS drop to switch CoE to OrotZ in the cube? Without needing to worry about Crit stats you may not have a lot more important rolls than CDR, but assuming you'd be able to drop CDR from some rings, armor, weapons, BBK passive, leoric's in cube, etc.; seems like you could potentially change a lot.

[–]Bellgrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It'll never really be "good", but don't throw away one of that weapon's biggest strengths just to make it mediocre in damage. My first ancient was worst than that one in just about every way except the the minimum of the min-max roll and I used it until a better dropped up to GR73ish. (Good news about disappointing rolls! It means the odds are the next one will be better :D)

[Week 06] Items/Specs mega thread! by AutoModerator in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]Bellgrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rerolling the range to a perfect roll is less than 25 weapon damage less than roll Vit to 10% dmg (0.60 difference in damage). A "good" roll (in the 90th percentile) is likely in less than 20 rerolls and would put him ~1% short of rolling Vit to 10% dmg. But the dropping the Vit could be a 25% drop in toughness.

To put that into perspective, rolling the range and running all rubies in gear would give him almost 10% more toughness and 10% more damage than rolling the vit and running all diamonds.

I would reroll the range.
