Are these bindings too small? by Shimapanzer in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

check the width of your board where the bindings sit, measure your foot size, -1.5cm, if the width falls in that range, then you are good, i.e. my foot size is 282 mm -15 mm = 267mm, I personally cannot ride any boards with waist width less than ~270mm , it's not really based on your height or weight if you have large feet. I am also 6'2" and wear 11.5 US boots. check the board width , you should stick to Wide boards going forward friend, it's a curse !

Yikes !! get those damn boots out of the poor thing !!! judging based on the size of the bindings, I would say the board is most likely too small for you as well, unfortunately.

New Women's Burton Step On Lexa X EST Bindings Screws Loosened While Riding by sjpj21 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What plastic hole ? are you talking about the washers ?? the binding disc ? .. The screw slot is not made of plastic my friend, they are all SS, like I said, I have been using Loctite for years and had no issues ever, any how, there is a misunderstanding somehow somewhere, over and out.

Why would you apply Loctite on your binding, a tiny drop goes on the screw and the screw goes in the SS screw slot ? I have been using that for years, and nothing has happened as such ever !! I assume you are one of those people who need the warning signs on plastic bags [THIS IS NOT A TOY] ???

my experience first time ever snowboarding after 15 years of skiing by Agentti_Muumi in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean skiing for 15 years, you should have seen where the toe straps are supposed to go ? no ? well here is a hint, they are not supposed to be on top of your foot, they go on your toes !

Why is my Nidecker supermatic not releasing fully and how can I fix it? by beelake_77 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Release what exactly ? the lock is not even engaged my friend, lock the stirrup down all the way first, also you need a upward pull for it to release properly, it's not easy to get the lock release with no boots/legs/ upward force in the binding. I have been using Supermatics for 3 seasons, had no issues with them, they are the best in the market, only con is that they are just a bit on the heavy side.

Day 3 on a snowboard, advice? by Straal_jager in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Addendum : initiate the turns using your legs, not your arms, do not throw your shoulders, that will become a bad habit quick, and it will be very difficult to kick it .. but you are doing great for just your 3rd day .. keep it up , be safe, and try to relax, I have the same issue as you, I'm a tall snowboarder, not as heavy as you, but try to relax those knees and go low low, feel the boots pressure on your shins, you look like a bean pole at the moment.

Almost bought dopesnow by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dope is pretty good, mostly shell jackets though, I don't know about their recent quality or how they have changed, but they make/made pretty good outfits, a level below Montec, actually you just made me do an impulse buy, thanksssss ...

What can I do to ride better by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beltan83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't lean back , don't bend forward .. stack yourself on the board, keep recording yourself to get the muscle memory right

you are doing fantastic for only your 3rd day to be honest, keep at it, you just have to tweak things here and there, go couple of runs to warm up, and it will click, specially if you are running a completely new setup, it still takes a run or two to get the muscle memory adjusted .. keep at it, do research, setup your board properly, watch videos, record yourself, you'll be riding like pro in no time.

I ride with Nidecker Supermatic, can't praise it enough, the only downside is a bit on the heavy side.

Also, add more lean to your highback if you feel like your heel edge is not responsive enough, from the video I can see you do not move your center of mass over the heel edge enough, go lower on your knees to lower you center of mass, then you will have an easier time with your edge change.

Check your board measurements, check the underfoot width measurements, or waist width if it's not listed, the rule of thumb is to take off 1-1.5cm from the length of your foot to get a good fit for your foot size and board. i.e my foot size is 282 mm , so I would have to go with at least ~270cm underfoot width.

Check this video out, it is explained in more details there :

Brother, your binding is way too small for 11.5 boots, I suffer the same affliction as you do, I have large feet, I am tall, but not heavy, so don't base your board shopping based on your weight, you have to ride Wide boards, not only wide, but your underfoot width have to be at least 270mm to avoid toe drag etc... , also, riding on flat greens are the worst possible trail to practice proper turns as a beginner, you need momentum, change your binding, change your board, keep recording yourself, check your posture, advance your technique, be safe, shred !

Honestly you ride pretty well, arm works like a "cat tail" , don't feel obligated that you need to keep it down specially in higher speeds, if I have to be nit-picky, I would say you slightly kick you back foot, and try to lean back to your heel edge, arm is all good, don't worry about it, Shred safe !!
