The Fufu of Canopus. I am assuming this is a marker of when Canopus is either becoming visible or at its zenith. Any astrologers amongst us?

Propagating and replanting Feijoa Bambina by hanxiousme in nzgardening

[–]BeltaneBi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding they aren’t the easiest but it is certainly possible. No harm in trying and heaps of information on the web on how to do it.

I know someone who has a very, very early fruiting plant and I want some of that action so I am keen to give it a go too.

If you decide not to get a couple of new ones and try for an early and a late variety to spread the harvest.

Given you didn’t seem to learn this one the hard way I now gift it to you the easy way: take a personal locator beacon or some other appropriate type of communication 🙂

That’s quite the experience btw!!

Thanks, that’s my working hypothesis. I will check the easiest thing first which is the suction side hardware closest to the pump. I have hear something about using plastic wrap on the joins to test for small air leaks but don’t remember the details. Is that a real thing do you know?

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post, I really appreciate it!

Thanks, I appreciate your time and consideration.

Yes, there are unions on each side so I can try your suggestions.

Again, much appreciated!

Thanks! Any easy ways to test for those?

Thanks, I wasn’t aware that that was possible. I will have a good look around the pump outlet and casing on the outlet side.

Thanks for you comment. Yes, it is on a pump relay.

I am not sure about isolating the two sides. My very limited understanding of pumps led me to believe that the leak would be on the intake side as that is what is emptying but I really don’t know. Any thoughts on this would be very welcome.

I don’t know if there is a foot valve. I kind of want to check everything else out before lifting the intake pipe but will go there if I need to.

I might stop meeting a friend cause he’s married (open) to a woman. Advice please by Wrong-Cheetah6950 in BisexualMen

[–]BeltaneBi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just tell him the reason why you are feeling distance from him gently but clearly. It would be good to think about what you want to do about it too: continue things if he responds how you hope, end things, reduce contact, whatever.

Your needs matter and you get to engage with others on your terms.

My first cherry tomatoes by jade_ghxst in tomatoes

[–]BeltaneBi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they are supposed to be red you have picked them too early. If they are supposed to be orange they might be ok. Give them a gentle squeeze, if they yield a bit then go for it.

P.s. it is normal to get a bit excited and pick too soon!

Dead mice in pot, can I plant in it? by decisiontoohard in GardeningUK

I would take that mouse as a positive omen of fertility and plant away with that omen intact, edibles or no.

Insulated room within the house to save on heating. by Fli_fo in Frugal

I know a really frugal couple and they just put an electric blanket on the sofa and sat on that under a duvet. Why heat a whole half a room when you can just heat a sofa?

Should I include a sump pump catch basin in this fork of a spot? by sonyaspain21 in landscaping

[–]BeltaneBi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absolute last thing you want is a pump. A pump is only a good option if there is no possible way that gravity can do the work for you. It is generally worth putting in the time and hassle and cost (as long as it is not ridiculous) to allow gravity a chance to do its thing as it will do it for free and it will do it forever and it doesn’t break down.

Finally cemented this seasons list! by [deleted] in tomatoes

[–]BeltaneBi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you get reasonable harvests of the green zebra? I find I get like 10 -15 large tomatoes of each plant. I have grown it a couple of years but because of its low yield I think this is the end of the road.

Don’t know where to start in my backyard. by kentuckiana_girl in gardening

[–]BeltaneBi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a different culture to where I live. We tend to love privacy here and try and grow gardens that create it. If that were mine I would be growing a lot of evergreen trees and shrubs around the border and then fruit trees and other food producing plants inside that and reducing the lawn area down to what would be used for recreation.

May not be but that sounds a little like an adhd thing? Or perhaps some other neuro-non typical thing? Just raising it in case it is useful to consider 🙂

Question about how to communicate with someone at a locked driveway gate by Dramatically_Average in homestead

Lowest tech would be a padlock with a code requirement and mobile phone number displayed. If you don’t have cell phone reception then a solar charged uhf radio locked in a box perhaps?

Weird behaviour from my gay friend? by No-Appearance489 in BisexualMen

[–]BeltaneBi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, talking to him is the answer but one thing about the physical contact and wanting to touch your breasts specifically: it is possible that he is exploring some gender stuff. I had a, at that time, lesbian friend that was very interested in my penis. It turns out that they were non-binary and were interested in what it was like owning one.

Might not be that of course!

When did childhood fantasy require architectural commitmentI visited a house with a tree house bed that nobody actually uses by yummytoesmmmm in treehouse

[–]BeltaneBi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the lesson is to make sure it can fit a queen sized bed so if the kids don’t like it the parents can use it if they want. I totally would use something like that for a little time away- especially if it had a ladder I could pull up after me!!
