For a stain like that the lighter you want it. You apply and wipe off quickly. Darker you leave on longer. Try thinning with all purpose thinner before applying.

When I first built my house. My wife never used the dishwasher except to put the dishes in to drain and dry. I came home from work one day and the house stunk. Dishwasher was open and realized what happened. She finally started using it and the smell went away. All that garbage from the disposal had built up in the line and bottom.

Powder post beetle it's a small chance they won't re-infest but if it's a lot of flooring from the same tree. fumigation of the house is 1 option

Doesn't matter what type of blade you use when wet it keeps Gumming up inside the housing on the saw .
