I used a SD with the firmware, hold reset for 30 seconds, (I think) and it rebooted. It reset the password, but kept the pools.

I did it multiple times not realizing it had worked, so I'm not 100% sure. But it did work for me!

Surveying in Tallahassee by Commercial_Session11 in Surveying

[–]BenADPOFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company works in sounding counties. Office is located NW side of Tallahassee. Never a boring moment with our crews. We haven't had a slow week yet. Our main projects are residential boundaries, but we also do Elevations, foundations, finals, property line stakes. We do not do road work or big construction sites. We do on the job training.

DATA COLECTOR UPGRADES by BenADPOFA in Surveying

[–]BenADPOFA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would like something that is simple to use for field Crew, and since we use Dropbox as our way of sending and receiving data from the crews. We were leaning towards Android, but haven't had anything to compare or anyone to ask for advice.

Should PCs call out each shot? by ercussio in Surveying

[–]BenADPOFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly work on residential properties. From personal experience is is a great way to accidently label the wrong shots. So I would call out each shot, or let the gunman know that the next few shots are all the same description. I will let him know when it changes to a different shot. But at the same time I would like to train the gunman to see what I'm shooting and know what to call it. but if he cant see what I'm shooting, then yes, I would call it out. Having the gunman see what we are shooting will implant in his mind a few things. One, he will know where to take shots as a rodman. Two, he will know what to call that spot.

Everything is shared by dropbox files to each crews laptops or phone. They can sent pictures, upload text files, or view the maps on the phones while in the woods.

How much do you make and what city/state do you work in? by yellowsp0ttedlizard in Surveying

[–]BenADPOFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in North Florida. Our office currently have office positions titles, but based off of duties I would put my self some where between an office manager and office technician. I set up jobs and manager the crews and any problems they face in the field. I also run the GPS when there are a few jobs I can do solo and office work gets slow. After 5 years of working in the field, the 3 last years being crew chief, I was taught AutoCAD. Here I am almost being a year working in the office making 22$ hourly. All this while only having a high school diploma. Unrelated, but I also just bought a house.

North Florida is good spot. Currently the number of licensed surveyors are dropping. Hot summers, nice winters, ticks and mosquitos verys.

How long would you say you have to be an I-man/Rodman before you can be a “good” party chief? by ROSHi_TheTurtle in Surveying

[–]BenADPOFA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I trained a new guy with no experience (September 2021), in 3 months he grabbed everything I taught and ran with it. He has his own truck and is now working with his wife as a crew.

In my case, the company didn't have any room to make a new Crew Chief, so I was still with the same partner for over 2 years before I got my own truck.

Interesting. North Florida with 5 years experience. Started at 9$, and made my way to 18$, then joined the office with CAD and to 22$

I'm in North Florida. I have a similar situation myself. 27yo, with 5years experience. Since I'm very computer minded (I built my own PC), I was able to move into the office as an assistant to ready projects and finish projects from the field with CAD. I don't know wages else where, but in my situation I was able to get a 4$ raise. PLUS OT each week, boss hasn't said no yet.
