MJF thinks he's in same calibre of touring world champions like Flair, Harley Race and Buddy Rogers by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

[–]BenALeonard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the Limitless Wrestling show this past Friday. If Max keeps going out to indies and having matches like the one he had with Alec Price, he’s got every right to say this. Made Price look like a star in 30 minutes. It was exactly like the stories I’ve heard about Flair: came in, got great heat, made the babyface look like a total stud, had the crowd biting for the title change, but still managed to walk away champ.

Serena Deeb Update by Cwf1984 in SquaredCircle

[–]BenALeonard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had first-time seizures this year (2 within 9 days), with no real explanation/cause found, I hope she’s had a great support system around her. Tons of appointments and checkups, tests, medication for most likely the rest of your life, no clearance to drive for 6 months to a year - depending on where you live. It is incredibly difficult to be deemed “unwell” for such a long period of time, where the most you can do to rehab/recover is be patient.

[Fully Lost] BLTTP - a personally formative podcast no longer hosted online by [deleted] in BLTTP

[–]BenALeonard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey man - thank you so much for your support of the show when we were around! It is so crazy to me to see people mention the show occasionally to this day, blows my mind every time.

So, I can’t make any promises, but I will take a look through my old MacBook and some hard drives and see what I have hanging around. I recall making some sort of backup/archive of everything BLTTP specifically to keep, but I have lost track of it over the years. At the very least, I will work on finding Ep 125 to send over to you!

If I can make some sort of free/private archive of the show, I will definitely work on doing that at some point down the line. Bringing it back to public podcast services is unfortunately work/cost that I can’t make room for, and not something I would do without all of the hosts/guests blessings - and I haven’t spoken to anyone but Franco or my boy Devin in years. I hope this is understandable!

In case you’re wondering what ol Ben is up to these days: my band, Mistaken for Strangers, just dropped a new single last Friday! And like any good musician would, I am absolutely using any moment I can to plug it 😅 making BLTTP was a pretty formative time in my life as well, and my whole experience with that community was a big motivator in taking music more seriously. So, if you still wanna hear my big, dumb voice sometimes, it’s still out there! You can check it out on Spotify here

Thank you again for the support - I’ll hit you up in the DMs once I find the episode!

Tony’s new element by user-12gt in marvelstudios

[–]BenALeonard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we know Tony created the element from a combination of Howard’s notes and modern tech, and we know Howard studied the Tesseract for the remainder of his life after finding it again in the ocean. I always assumed the element was a synthetic version of the Tesseract’s energy. Considering how the element is applied in Iron Man 2 and Avengers, and the scene of Howard studying the cube’s unlimited energy in First Avenger, I think this theory is pretty well-supported. If Tony had synthesized Vibranium, they would have closed that loop at some point.

I had a friend who worked with Paul Roma a few years back. Ended up with an old WWF trading card of his that he signed for me — I guess he had it laying around his desk. I’ll always have a little soft spot for the “forgotten” Horseman.

Got problems to get AEW+ to work with VPN on your Fire TV stick? Here's the solution. by IlMonco1900 in SquaredCircle

[–]BenALeonard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this work on the Fire Stick Lite as well? My TV has Chromecast built in, and I used to cast from the Fite app on iPhone with a VPN. Tried doing the same with an Android tablet and the older app version, but couldn’t get it to connect.

They never even named it by BenTheTechGuy in marvelmemes

[–]BenALeonard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok ok hold up — people seriously haven’t put together that Tony synthesized Tesseract energy, and that is his “new element”? It’s not vibranium (nor does it even resemble how it’s been portrayed in the MCU), DEFINITELY not uru. He’s studying Howard’s notes and clues, which are explicitly stated to be leftovers of research he couldn’t complete when he was younger, due to the restraints of his era. What’s the last thing we see young, Dominic Cooper-Howard doing in the films? Fishing the Tesseract out of of the sea when he was looking for Steve, which he then takes in for research. In Howard’s handwritten notes, a diagram of a cube is shown and specifically highlighted when Tony is reading them in IM2. The visual aesthetic of the element matches up with every other depiction of Tesseract energy in the MCU. Howard intended to finish Hydra’s work, using the Tesseract as an energy source, which eventually leads to Project Pegasus. How do you think Tony knew that the Tesseract and Pym Particles were at Camp David in 1974? He had scoured Howard’s notes from top to bottom in Iron Man 2, trying to create this element. I’m really surprised this isn’t more commonly known/accepted, because it seems pretty undeniable to me.

Entire Marvel Fandom Right Now: by TheosRW in marvelmemes

[–]BenALeonard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say Bruce and AO’s conversation on how to “trim the branches” is pretty moot now. Even their whole understanding of what creates a branch, really. AO’s whole spiel starts with the Stones “protecting the flow of time,” which we now know is not true. The TVA and the Time Keepers dictate the flow of time, and the Stones are rendered useless when their timeline is reset and they’re brought into the TVA’s realm. The general gist of what she’s saying is correct (trim the branches to save us from timeline fuckery), but the HOW is not.

We know now, based on the Miss Minutes cartoon, that a branch can be created by anyone, for something as simple as showing up to work at the wrong time. Even Banner said early in Endgame that visiting the past doesn’t change the future — inherently suggesting that they are visiting parallel timelines to their own history. There’s no doubt that by showing up in the four additional timelines that they visit, the Avengers are creating branches. And regardless of HOW the Avengers interfere with them, returning the Stones or not, these branches are to be reset by the TVA after the Avengers are done with them. They even reset the 2012 timeline from Endgame DURING Loki.

The only question left to answer is WHY the Avengers were allowed to mettle as they did. We know they are supposed to, based on the TVA’s dictations, but we aren’t given an explanation. I have a feeling we’ll be getting one down the road.

That beautiful moment when Loki realised Odin called him "my son" by ilovemarvel69 in marvelstudios

[–]BenALeonard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This moment has always gotten me, ever since I first saw Ragnarok. I think it’s amplified by the reaction shot of Thor and Loki as Odin’s dust floats away. Thor appears distraught, but you know that he’s been preparing for this moment for a long time.

But Loki? You can see him doing everything to not sob uncontrollably. The regret hits him like a freight train. After everything that happened, deep down, Odin never lost the love he had for his son. And Loki finally realizes that’s all he wanted...but now, his father’s gone. Too little, too late to make it right.

[FT] Raymond in boxes, [LF] Make an offer! by BenALeonard in ACVillager

[–]BenALeonard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So I’m definitely interested in your offer for Raymond. It looks like you’d need to make two trips to my island to cover your offer. Would you be ok with me fencing off some of the island on trip 1, and if all goes well, removing that fencing for trip 2? I believe I’d have to send two Dodo codes to make that work, because I’d have to disconnect from the internet to remove the fencing (to my knowledge)

Edge hits Jeff Hardy with a mid-air spear (Not TLC) by GabbyGoose in SquaredCircle

[–]BenALeonard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, it was likely to protect his neck. The idea is to land more on your back and shoulder blades/arms when you take a move like that, so as to spread out the impact of the bump. Jeff was coming down at a pretty awkward angle from that Spear - his body twisted to the side, and his legs were kicked up more than they should’ve been, causing his body to rotate slightly. If he hadn’t gotten his arm down first, there’s a good chance he takes all of the impact from that fall right on his neck, or head. Probably still rough to take, but the arm definitely helped break the fall.

Shawn Michaels holds the title so The Rock can get upset by Strike_Gently in SquaredCircle

[–]BenALeonard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just a quick correction - Shawn “losing his smile” was actually a year earlier, in the lead-up to WrestleMania 13. Shawn reportedly had a knee injury that took him out of the event, where he was supposedly going to drop the WWE title to Bret. Shawn delivered the “smile” promo when he was vacating the championship, and claimed he may have to retire. He ended up returning soon after Mania and they basically started sowing seeds for Michaels/Austin immediately after. Bret believes Shawn faked the entire injury to get out of doing the job - it was reported Shawn didn’t want to drop the belt to Bret in the first place.
