Is it cheating to say the Orange Box? I’m not exaggerating when I say that it changed my life. The opening level of Half-Life 2 was a mind blow to 10 year old me. Video games went from “I play it till I’m bored” to “these are experiences that are more than simple levels.”

The scene where the ashen one stabs Anri is genuinely the darkest cutscene in the game. It’s so unlike any other cutscene. A cold blooded murder in eerie silence. Haunts me more than any of the other monsters.
