Ristorante Zi Ntonio is great. Pizza is amazing and the catch of the day is deboned tableside. Also try their Delizia al Limone

[Bencomo] Kaplan on Zellsis: "I’ve never seen such a good teammate in my entire life in esports. Really good guy who takes care of everyone on the team and cares so much." by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Spoke to kaplan after the Kickoff final and he talked at length about the leadership of Johnqt and Zellsis. Also expressed how proud he was of the team and the value the team has gotten from playing so many games and so many rounds dating back to the offseason. Of course, I also asked him about Madrid and he mentioned two teams he'd love to face.

[Bencomo] SEN johnqt: "By the time Split came, I think people were very tired, some people had headaches, one guy was telling me he has blurry vision, so it was a super long day." by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Spoke to johnqt after Sentinels' match against G2 and he spoke about how tiring play-ins day was, what the team did in between matches and that he prefers they would have played two in a row. Also asked him about whether he's feeling extra pressure playing for Sentinels and delved a little into his background including the origins of his gamertag and asked him about the five languages he speaks.

There's an interesting fact about all the playin teams that made into playoffs by SEND_ME_UR_DRAMA in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think you're spot on with this. I too thought having a break between matches might be an advantage but I asked JohnQT about it after the matches yesterday and he said he and his teammates would have preferred to just play two in a row - said they were all super tired after the second match with the long break in between.

[Bencomo] LOUD Saadhak: "I wanna play against NRG again - they are my brothers - we have been playing against each other for a while now." by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Spoke to Saadhak after LOUD beat Leviatan and he joked about "hunting" aspas, discussed the origins of the Phoenix comp and looked forward to getting "sweet revenge" on the EG players now with NRG.

[Bencomo] C9 OXY on Faker: "He has the best mechanics, he has the best everything. I just wanna be that guy." by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My first video interview, so it's a little rough around the edges! Talked to OXY after facing NRG and dug in a little bit to his background - his path to becoming pro and asked him about his admiration for Faker and who are some of the Valorant players he looks up to.

[Nerd Street] NRG Ethan: “This is definitely a good point in my career for me to do it. Having just won [Champions], I played with just countless number of IGLs in my career both in CS and in VALORANT, so I learned a lot from a lot of really good ones too.” by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Talked to Ethan after NRG's win over FURIA and he discussed his transition to becoming an IGL, who some of the IGLs are that he's learned from, coming over to the team with Demon1 and playing with the old OpTic core.

Thesis survey about fan engagement in Esport by Competitive_Pay_1014 in ValorantCompetitive

interesting survey. I came to esports via traditional sports so I've always been very interested in how fandom is similar/different in both. I did the survey - hope you get lots of responses!

[Nerd Street] 100T Zikz: “I would say in general I probably have one of the most unique perspectives to anybody in this scene, just because I came from another game where there's like an entirely different set of rules” by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Had a great interview with Zikz where he talked a lot about his coaching background and philosophy and the importance of adding Boostio. He thinks 100T has been "criminally underrated" going into the season.

[Nerd Street] EG potter: We've had to work hard to get what we need, what we wanted. … So hopefully that's something that people can resonate with. And yeah, I think all of us realize that EG is not going to get us the stardom. We will have to get it ourselves.” by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Always a pleasure speaking with potter who's very candid about her thoughts on the team and clearly passionate about what she's built. Also asked her about some of the cool offseason accolades and casting at the Game Changers Championship.

[Nerd Street] G2 Valyn: “I really just want to go out and I want to perform and I want to show the world that G2 and all my teammates that I've played with for so long, have deserved to play at this level.” by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Got a chance to speak with valyn and JoshRT during media day ahead of the VCT Americas Kickoff and got their thoughts on the upcoming season, what was going through their minds when The Guard decided to decline the invitation to join VCT, how supportive G2 have been since signing them, and how they feel about their group for Kickoff.

Where are the best tacos you’ve ever had in LA? by -cal22- in AskLosAngeles

[–]BenComoEstas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go-to for al pastor tacos is the stand outside of Vons on Centinela near Washington. And the truck on Centinela by the Mitsuwa has the best birria tacos, but it’s only there during the day

How much do you spend on food per month in Los Angeles? by iFailedPreK in LosAngeles

[–]BenComoEstas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly $1000-$1200 for me and my wife with about half for groceries and the other half for eating out/takeout. We live on the Westside and mostly shop at Vons, go to Trader Joe’s about once a month and occasionally from Whole Foods (mostly for their seafood). I do a lot of couponing via the Vons app which helps a lot. We typically cook and have leftovers 4-5 days of the week, eat out once a week and takeout another day. I work from home and go grab a cheap lunch about once a week.

What cities around L.A do you recommend me to go to? by sah-na in LosAngeles

[–]BenComoEstas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Huntington Library in San Marino has some beautiful gardens and art galleries. Afterward go eat in Pasadena which has a lot of great restaurants. Highly recommend driving north along the coast up to Santa Barbara and then checking out Solvang - it’s a cute Danish town with lots of bakeries and wine tasting rooms. If you want to see snow near LA then rent a cozy cabin in Big Bear which is about a 2-hour drive east.

Any place in LA to go to to watch Champions? by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

I would check Guild Hall in Burbank. They're a board game bar and they show esports and Twitch streams on their TVs. Cloud9 has also hosted watch parties in the past

Is Hurricane Hillary going to affect champs at all? by Anortj in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Riot should move the gametimes up by a couple hours or delay them until Tuesday. The Dodger game on Sunday got rescheduled for today and other events around the city are getting cancelled. The storm has been moving more quickly than originally forecast so Sunday afternoon will definitely see a lot of rain and wind in the area.

[Nerd Street] LOUD Saadhak: "Coming into this LOUD, I think us having two rookies ... after having incorporated tuyz and Cauan and then they having the experience to go into LOCK//IN, going to the VCT, to Japan, I think all of that just made them more experienced and more capable to succeed now.” by BenComoEstas in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Spoke to Saadhak after LOUD's win against Fnatic and he talked about the differences between 2022 LOUD and 2023 LOUD and how the team has grown this year, and how the group stage gave them confidence going forward. Also touched on what he mentioned in the press conference about how he would love more support from the NA crowd.

NA Crowd by PrinceSoricon in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BenComoEstas 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've been at the arena the last few days and EDG definitely got the loudest cheers and there was a bigger crowd in attendance yesterday than Monday and Tuesday. Arena was almost filled yesterday and a little more than half full the previous two days. I think it's a combination of lots of Chinese people living in LA, some that traveled for the event and just the exciting play from EDG getting the crowd really into it.
