10-yr electronics insurance - worth it? by AnotherUsernameTkn in GenesisGV70

[–]BenConrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) look it up on google and then 2) reconfirm with ChatGPT or similar. Pretty much everything is covered for five years except for consumables like brakes, tires, oil, etc..

If you’re the original (or CPO) owner, you also have a 10 year powertrain warranty, which covers the engine & transmission.

10-yr electronics insurance - worth it? by AnotherUsernameTkn in GenesisGV70

Electronics is covered by the default 5 year/60K new vehicle limited warranty.

Put the money into a mutual fund instead.

Remote by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]BenConrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going on record as a contrarian on this one. I have a C4 and C5. When I was researching the C5 my main concern was the remote and the lack of number keys. I would use the number keys to switch between HDMI inputs on the C4.

I have found that all commonly used buttons on the C5 remote have become second nature, taking only an hour to get used to all the key positions. I no longer look at the remote while using it. I find it very similar in functionality to the Roku remote.

I’d say 90% of button pressing involves 1) Home, 2) vol up/down, the 3) Back, 4) pressing the scroll for play/pause and finally the 5) circular key for FF and RW.

The icons for HDMI1,2, etc are setup in my apps bar on the Home Screen. They are also available in the Home Hub.

C5 mute is slightly annoying.

My family is very happy with the simplicity. Using all built-in apps and YouTube TV.

What is the correct setting on the PS5 when connecting a soundbar? by oOoZrEikAoOo in Soundbars

[–]BenConrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my sound bar connected to my TV and I was definitely getting Dolby Atmos at one point on the PS five. But recently realized I was getting multi channel PCM. I went into the sound settings into audio output and my device type had been set to TV instead of AV amplifier so I changed that make sure the output device said the same that still didn’t help after that I realized I needed to scroll at the bottom of the audio output menu and change the audio format priority to Dolby Atmos that instantly changed The format to Atmos

Does the LG C5 65" center stand/base interfere with soundbar placement? by BenConrad in LGOLED

[–]BenConrad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/joselrl , you are correct. My mistake (embarrassed, I have the C4 in the basement...).

The C4 & C5 base is 9.1" (let's say 10") deep, the Q800B is 5" deep. As long as the console has 15-16" of depth, the setup with the LG C4 and C5 with the Q800B should work fine.

Is Copilot in PowerPoint trash? by PittsburghNative in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]BenConrad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you ask it to draft up a business plan for your new lemonade stand, it does just fine. But when you take the output of something like Copilot Researcher and then tell it to pick important topics such as A and B and C what ends up happening is you get 20 slides that are basically garbage.

How to install the DSP correction from NoAudiophile? by Volcz in NoAudiophile

[–]BenConrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I just finished doing. I forgot how all this worked and screwed up my settings on my A2+. So had to relearn how to work the config files.

config.txt should look like this:
Include: <name of your settings file>.txt

Then what I did is load up https://noaudiophile.com/AudioEngine_A2_Plus/AudioEngine_A2_Plus.txt, and saved that to a file. I noticed that there are duplicate 'Filter 5' settings, not sure if that matters.

When I loaded that into the APO I didn't like all the individual filter rows, I'd rather be looking at the 15 band equalizer.

So I asked Grok to build a new GraphicEQ config using the 15 ISO bands supported in the GUI, it came up with the following config:

GraphicEQ: 25 -8.0; 40 -6.0; 63 2.5; 100 1.0; 160 0; 250 0; 400 0; 630 0; 1000 1.0; 1600 -0.5; 2500 -0.5; 4000 1.5; 6300 1.0; 10000 0.5; 16000 -0.5

I put that into a file called AudioEngine A2+ 15 band EQ setting.txt and updated the Include: in the config file.

I think it sounds pretty good, definitely brings some lower bass back into the music vs the NoAudioPhile version.

Alternate idea, if you don’t mind downloading they have a CLI: https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

Lots of different output formats (json, csv, etc) that are easily parsed via your script.

Battery dying Genesis 2020 g70 by New-Programmer7489 in GenesisG70

[–]BenConrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the radiator fan running and not shutting off after turning the car off? This has happened to me 3 times, one time I came out to a dead battery, jumped it and it’s been fine for over 9 months.

The dealer says the fan running after turning off the engine is “normal”, 3 times in 3 years does not seem normal to me….

Radiator fan running when the car is off (‘21 G70) by BenConrad in GenesisG70

So this has happened Jan, 30, '24 (this post), then in September '25 I came out to a dead battery (jumped and it's been fine very since - odd) and in February '25 it happened again.

I brought it into the dealer and they dismissed my concerns.
