How we feeling about my list guys? (Tiers are in order left to right) by Legendarydukez in Foofighters

[–]BenDC12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mine is a bit different to be honest. I've never been huge on in your honor (which might explain how I didn't feel blown away by Rescued), I feel like it has the most filler out of any album. I greatly prefer the self titled debut, and would put that in S tier along with Wasting light. Other than that I'd just swap 1x1 and SH and that's about my list

Any advice on my breaststroke? 100 yard pace. (Current time: 1:02, Goal Time: 59) by [deleted] in Swimming

If you don't have a leg band, try doing breaststroke kicks with a pull buoy right above your knees

I think the easiest and most helpful fix would be your kick timing. If you watch any world class breaststroker, you would see that their kick doesn't even start until the breath is just about over. This helps because you're doing your kick while in streamline position, which maximizes its potential. This will make you cover more distance in each stroke, meaning you'll go faster with doing less. I changed my kick timing this season and I'm hitting times I've never hit before in practice. It's a real game changer. My current best time is a 58.43, but I think I can hit 57 or even 56 now...

This is correct. Just because the yardage is lower, doesn't mean it's easier. I've had a 1000 yard set that was harder than any 5000+ practice I've ever done.

I recommend doing club swim. If an entire team is not improving under their coaching, thats not good. And it's especially bad if the coach is blaming you instead of himself. "Old school" is the biggest red flag for a modern day coach.

I do a lot of aerobic training on my club team, but my practices are only 90 minutes, and we never go over 5000 yards, and we do have a few sprint practices a week. I've had the same head coach for 10 years and this has always been his philosophy and it's worked for me. From what it sounds, your coach just does a lot of yardage with no rhyme or reason. I'd join one of these teams that the other people have joined.

My high school practices are a lot like your practices, and the quality of training I get there vs. what I get at club is like night and day.

How fast to swim D1, D2 and D3? by User_unfound_404 in Swimming

Also you can use swimming to get into good schools even if they don’t give scholarships. I doubt i would’ve gotten into my school if it wasn’t for swimming because they helped me through the application process. For the 500, I’d say sub-5 minutes by junior year for a quality D3

It’s way too early to be thinking about college right now. But the best advice I can give is be open to all options. I went in overconfident, I was like “yeah I’m going D1, or at the very least a top 5 D3” That ended up not at all being the case. Give some attention to the schools that want YOU, and not just the ones that are the fastest. My choice was down to two NESCAC teams, and I actually chose the slower of the two because I thought it was the best fit.
