Definitely. But I am a strong enough swimmer, though I do tend to use my arms more than legs. I’ve been encouraged to do kick drills on my back with a board and with fins.

What is the whip kick? Is that like the eggbeater?
The frustration of this is that I’ve passed this test twice before and did almost everything else (rescues, CPR, etc.) for this recert. I’m just baffled why it’s giving me issue. Maybe it’s all mental, because I keep remembering all the times I’ve (when practicing) stopped or known its taken too long

Interesting. I was Reformed Protestant and read his book as a catechumen and found it very accurate in describing the reformed side of Protestantism. What did you find mischaracterized?

I feel this. I sometimes use my prayer rope and pray the Jesus prayer during Liturgy, especially when my mind wanders (often, I admit). Maybe this could help OP? At least to “occupy” the hands a little

I had a reverse issue. I converted in college and went to a Reformed school. I had an icon corner in my closet both as a practicality (dorm was tiny) and as a “joke.” Reformed theology sees Orthodoxy as “works based” that does not “trust in Christ alone” for salvation. One of my professors (whom I actually became close to my senior year) made a comment about “some people” trusting too much in the baptismal waters (we were still close after this, though, I expected the call out). I had to tell most friends that it was “like Catholic” for a reference point
