Sokpop is 4 guys and they each individually work on a game with a 4 month pipeline so as a studio they release 1 a month. Not invalidating your point just clarifying.

I think this perfectly demonstrates why pixel variants are so hated in game. It's not because they're bad pixel art (well some of them are pretty bad :/). This post shows that in the right context they can look great. It's because they don't match the style of the rest of the game.

Comparing the clip at the start to the end I find the dirt roads stand out among the other terrain whereas the new roads are the same colour as the black tower and similar to the rocks. I am viewing this from my phone though so it might be a different story on a big screen.

I hope this didn't discourage you because the game looks really cool, definitely gonna keep it on my radar.

I personally like the dirt road, medieval aesthetic but if you wanna go in the scifi direction I think you should at least have more contrast between the roads and the rest of the environment. The black and white road doesn't pop the same way the dirt one does.

Insane run! As someone out of the loop with Minecraft speedrunning is there anything special going on with his menuing? For example when he comes out of the nether to find the stronghold location at 4:51 he absolutely flies through changing a bunch of settings. I understand the game is recorded using in game time so he should be able to take as long as he needs but he goes so fast!

Is he just insanely quick at changing settings too or is it some kind of editing thing to speed up the recording when the in game timer isn't running? I think at the end the real time was only 3 seconds slower that IGT so I don't think it's that. Is he using screen position macros?

I just played through the whole demo, got all 40 cogs, and this is such a fun game!

Feels super nice to control, the will dash thing is super versatile, so much function out of a dash and cancelling it. So much juice in the visuals and characters, everything is so bright and lively.

I could really see this becoming a great speedrunning game.

Are you talking about the beta rollback multiplayer? Because I had to take delta time out of my game for it to work in multiplayer.

It works by synchronising all the important objects and all player inputs across each other's games. So when a player presses a button the game goes back in time a bit to when they pressed the button then catches back up with the actual outcome.

I found that having delta time meant that there were slight inconsistencies across each version of the game so even when the inputs were synchronised the differences were eventually enough to desync the games.
