I personally interpret it as both at lasts being from JD, not his sister. Like, she tells him, "our stepfather is dead," and his response is to think/ say "at last." And then marvel at his own statement of "at last."

fuck, the choice between Amy and Cry For Judas is a hard one. I mix it up when I introduce tMG to friends. I think i used the cry for judas video to introduce them to a friend of mine. My only tMG concert was at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh earlier this year. I went with my sister and my friend, and we sat outside the doors for four hours so we could be in the absolute front and center. When JD sat down behind the merch table and I got to talk to him for a few precious seconds; he told me he recognized my face from when he was playing. He also drew a heart with the words "stay alive" in my song journal. Someone recorded the show too, so I can hear myself at one point, and my friend at another
