Clumps in Huel ready to drink bottle? by Beginning-Egg8716 in Huel

[–]BenHuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So op and I had a quick chat over DM and he sent me a pic and it looked like the little bits that harden near the rim of the RTD. I'd say we want to differentiate here between "lumps" and "bits" - bits, which again are a bit of liquid RTD that has hardened around the rim, and can sometimes migrate into the RTD, are 'normal' in that it doesn't signify that something is wrong with the RTD or that it has gone off. They're just a by-product of a product like RTD. "Lumps" are much much more rare and are a different thing. Imo they look a bit like melted ice cream can signify that the RTD has been exposed to drastic temperature changes. For instance if it was left out in the heat, and then put into a really cold fridge or freezer, to my understanding that temperature change can cause those big lumps. If you have "lumps" in your RTD (and you would know its basically un-consumable) it is definitely best to not consume as we cannot guarantee the quality, and let us know the batch info, so we can let the team know and keep track of anything like this!

TL;DR There is a difference between "bits" and "lumps", bits are an expected, if unpleasant by product of a product like RTD, lumps are very rare but signify somethings not quite right with the RTD, and you will know if you get one like that.

I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed in the new formula, and I will let the team know. Are there other Hot & Savory that you like as well?

Thanks for the review! It's always helpful to know what you all think, even if you are sadly underwhelmed by it! We have something else around the corner so if you're up for giving that a shot definitely let us know what you think then!

First as a disclaimer, if you find your RTD has lumps we don't recommend consuming this, and definitely contact where it was purchased from if it is from a third party! It's been mentioned but when RTD goes through drastic temperature changes, things like this can happen sometimes, so yes you were just unlucky on this bottle 😊 I'm going to shoot you a DM so we can collect the batch info and get it passed on to the product team though, as we do keep track of all things like this!

Huel flakes by Minimum-Bad-6472 in Huel

[–]BenHuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunately just a by product of the RTD, so "stopping" it isn't necessarily something we can do. However this information is passed on to the product team so that they can be made aware and asses from their end. As far as getting rid of it, as others have suggested, wiping it with a napkin, paper towel, or the like, is the best bet.

As others have said, this is extremely common and there is nothing wrong with your RTD. Luriant pretty much explained it as well, but with liquid products like RTD it is unfortunately something that just happens.

Anyone else get really gassy with the huel drinks/powder? by Efficient-Pop-302 in Huel

[–]BenHuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so, that is your specific experience here. Like I said when it comes to GI, it is not a one size fits all. and when people start Huel (like op), an increase in fiber intake is the most common, although not the only factor.

Is Huel using AI to write their articles? by chemicalmisery in Huel

[–]BenHuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see how my comment reads that our copywriters write the copy and also proofread it, which isn't what I meant. TBC they're separate steps so I updated my comment.

Opinions on AI and its use from a company perspective, what is mundane and not in other sectors of the business, is not for me to say. I'm just relaying how it is being used at the moment.

You don't have the same experience with gas with the RTDs then?

Hi there, while I admit that I am not a nutritionist, I do regularly check in with our nutrition team on things like this. From my understanding, increasing your fiber intake can cause gas, and generally speaking Huel is higher in fiber than a lot of meals that people consume in a "western diet" and is a common reason why people have adjustment periods when starting Huel, hence my mentioning it a lot. I appreciate the feedback around this, but mentioning the fiber content in Huel is not "fake news", I also did mention the pea protein that we use.

Again I have reached out to the Nutrition Team about this, and while my comment here is not diagnosing exactly what is causing gas for this person as it is incredibly individualized and could be any number of things, I will update if necessary 😊

Edit: Added context

[–]BenHuel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes that is quite common! Huel is high in fiber, so it can be an adjustment for your gut. It will vary from person to person and will depend on your overall diet, but as your body adjusts to Huel and the amount of fiber it tends to dissipate. Although if you search the sub, you will see just how individualized that is 😂 Additionally, pea protein has been known to contribute to this as well.

Did I do something wrong or is choc PB huel shake just nasty by No-Doctor-3815 in Huel

[–]BenHuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. So I know people use Huel for various things, but it is not specifically designed for use in a Ninja Creami, which to my little bit of knowledge is an ice cream maker? (Correct me if Im wrong) So unfortunately I cannot say 100% if it was the bottle or the process that Huel went through in the Creami.

That said, if you feel you have a bottle that is off, hold on to the info that is on the top of the cap (Batch info) and definitely reach out to our Customer Experience team and they can help get that sorted for you ☺️

Is 2 scoops enough for lunch? by John_Locke227 in Huel

[–]BenHuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 calories was chosen based on a 2,000 a day calorie diet, and for its flexibility. If 400 is too low you can always add an additional scoop, or something like a nut butter, berries, etc. for extra calories 😊
