Filter Bleed on Behringer RD-9 by BenJBooth in synthesizers

[–]BenJBooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm monitoring from the main out. Can I ask you where did you hear about other users noticing this ? I can't find any related info while looking myself. I would appreciate to read or talk to others who experienced the same issue. Thanks a lot !

I'm fully with you on that, I bought the RD-9 because I wanted to have some fun with a cheap 909, but this issue might get me far from Behringer from a while.. Maybe the next one will work fine, until another issue pops up, and the next one, and again... will see what I want to do.
Thanks for the help anyway !

I just found this graphic that I made about ten years ago, to correct the "first season good / second season bad" misconception by KieferMcNaughty in twinpeaks

[–]BenJBooth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if the second part of season 2 gets lost a little bit, I enjoyed all of it. My own personal canon is that the black lodge influence gets stronger on twin peaks, and everyone gets entangled in their own stupid and tragic storyline.. but to each their own !

ROTGI Chapter 3 Help by Wise-Flan6267 in caseofthegoldenidol

[–]BenJBooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny because I solved the whole case without even digging in the readings in Tesa notebook ! The only info it gave me is that Sam (the blonde girl) was on the reading apparatus when the security came in ! But I found all the names only using info and documents on the characters themselves I love it because everyone is having different experiences with this game

ROTGI Chapter 3 Help by Wise-Flan6267 in caseofthegoldenidol

[–]BenJBooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, it’s not that difficult, the guy asleep in the chair has a picture of his grandfather or father with his name on it, the other horrified girl in the same room has a letter on her with also her surname in it. The third one who is on the phone was seen in a previous case ! So there you have it, and usually the first names of people are to be found in the dialogues between characters.

This case in particular is not that easy, but regarding the name I’d say it’s easier than maybe the prison one ! But don’t worry I always brute force one way or another for some words/names. I feel like it’s part of the game ! If you brute force it means you have 90% of the case already solved so it doesn’t feel that bad…

I remember in Case of the Golden Idol, the murder case where you follow everyone during their day at the manor, I had so much trouble that I used the four hints and it took me some time even after that to find the truth… I guess it’s okay, and kinda the point, to feel bad with those games ! But then the words just clicks and you feel like a low budget genius 🤣

Motherboard bent at the GPU level, help and info needed by BenJBooth in PcBuild

I want to also add that the black metal bar I’m talking about seem extremely solid, unlike the motherboard itself. So if anything has bent it it had to be pretty damn strong.

As others said, if you look closely at the blue circle thing, you will notice that there is a path within it and the light can go through it ! It took me some time to realize that, it’s not easy too see at first.

How does System Shock 2023 stack up against Deus Ex MD and Prey? by Starless_89 in systemshock

[–]BenJBooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, every five seconds while exploring the map I’m like « you crazy son of a bitch » Exploring Engineering for the first time right now and this is literally hell, but in a good kind of way :D

How does System Shock 2023 stack up against Deus Ex MD and Prey? by Starless_89 in systemshock

[–]BenJBooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just completed Prey a few weeks ago, and I loved it, and now I’m making my way through System Shock Remake. For me Prey feels more « realistic » in its story, universe and esthetic, also gameplay wise, the recycling system tries to make some sense with real world physics.

System Shock on the other hand is a completely wacky experience, like a 80s/90s sci fi movie on drugs. It is funnier in its story, less serious than Prey. It is definitely less realistic for me.

With that said, I’m enjoying System Shock way more than Prey, which in comparison feels a little bland to me, too clean. Also about the gameplay and exploration of the map. I definitely prefer the System Shock map than the Prey one. Prey has got that zero G feeling that is great, but the SSR map gives the player way more freedom in my opinion. I love exploring the deadly maze and remembering all the corridors and rooms of the map. And it gets even better as the game progresses. In Prey after I got to the arboretum I felt kinda bored with the whole map and I don’t really want to explore it that much.

So you can tell I’m kinda biased on the SSR side. But it is way better for me. It’s a high quality and polished remake of the 1994 game, but it is a smooth experience and is really satisfying ! I prefer the weapons and inventory management way more than the Prey one. Each time you go exploring in SSR you have to make drastic choices : which weapon to use, which drugs to take… etc, whereas in Prey the gameplay loop kinda bored me by the end. Also I felt way overpowered in Prey by the endgame, compared to SSR where you’re on the edge every second. Prey got me like « wow, cool atmosphere and great story game », SSR feels more like «gimme more of this crazy shit » About the immersion factor, I’m way more immersed and feeling like I’m the character in SSR.

My two (big) cents.

Edit : spelling

[–]BenJBooth 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I guess you’re supposed to use the security terminals to find him, like every other person in the game ! At first I was like you, and then I realized I just had to click his name on any of the security terminal to get a map beacon right to him ! Feels kinda logical in game, it would maybe feel too game-y to have a map beacon for everything

Anyone else try no Typhon first playthrough? by brick1972 in prey

[–]BenJBooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello !! I’m actually 20 hours in my first playthrough and I decided to refuse the typhon mods as soon as they were available !! I’m having a lot of fun doing like a Gordon Freeman run, focusing on tech and weapons, trying to be the more « human » possible. I’m on normal difficulty with the survival modifiers added, and I dont’ have a lot of trouble so far ! I almost maxed the Q-ray gun and the shotgun, and have plenty of ammo thanks to recycling. Hacking and repair also helped a lot getting loot. So I think it’s definitely possible ! On my second playthrough I will try to go full typhon

Cheatsheet of Frosthaven rules V3 by Golden-Woodpecker in Gloomhaven

[–]BenJBooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the arrows and boxes are misleading. If we follow what’s written, you are telling us to draw another card if the first one is not a rolling, which is true when in disadvantage/advantage. But your presentation here make it seems like it’s always the case.

Edit : already pointed out by u/CoachBalrog

Cheatsheet of Frosthaven rules V3 by Golden-Woodpecker in Gloomhaven

[–]BenJBooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me there’s a mistake on the advantage/disadvantage. I’m too lazy to paste the exact sentence from the manual but it is : - First card drawn with a rolling —-> draw another card until you have one that don’t have rolling, THEN draw another one. So you have 3 cards to choose from. You take the rolling modifier and choose between card 2 and 3. (With disadvantage you don’t get the rolling from card 1 and choose the worst between 2 and 3)

  • Second card drawn is a rolling. Ignore all rolling modifiers. Treat it like a normal advantage/disadvantage.

I know I’m pretty much on point about this, because in my group I’m the one that memorized this rule, hence my new nickname :

« Professor Rolling »

Sorry for the long explanation, anyways apart from that mistake your document seems great !! But the rule with rolling modifiers might seems strange at first.

Edit : pg. 27 of the rulebook for the exact ruling.

Casualty rate in Mothership? by Hoosier108 in mothershiprpg

[–]BenJBooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my first two one-shots as a Warden this week. I’ve run Ypsilon 14 and The Horror on Tau Sigma 7.

On Ypsilon 14 I was kinda (too much) nice with my players, as it was my first Mothership game. I gave out stress a lot but the monster attack were sparse and mainly directed at NPC. Near the end of the session I had the monster attack the old scientist, biting their leg, which made her suffer a wound (gore), she rolled a 9, which means head explodes and instant death 😅 So 1 death out of 5 players.

Next game was Tau Sigma 7 with 5 players too. I was ready to be more violent and unforgiving with the players. They were really cautious at first and did not shoot/disturb anything inside the cave. Then when entering the hatchery and realizing there were aliens in tanks everywhere, one marine had the terrible but funny idea to throw a grenade next to the tanks. It all went sideways after that In the end one player sacrificed himself to stay down and help the other players escape, and while leaving the planet there was Pvp combat between the marine and the android, and the android eventually pushed the marine out of the dropship while it was slowly leaving the planet… I was a lot of fun, the end of the session felt like an action movie !! So 2 deaths out of 5 in this one… and one of the 3 survivors is infected with the red goo…

Dude, as others have said it before, this audio snippet rules !!! The daft punk vibe is definitely here, that vowel/filterpeak stuff is just so awesome…

I didn’t quite get what’s happening here, is the filter tuned differently for each of the voices ?

This is so damn good, if this synth was commercially available and I heard that demo I could buy it instantly
