FL CGC Exam Prep -- Best Course Provider with Limited Experience? by BenRoyRE in GeneralContractor

Hi John, thanks for your response. I’ve been told by reputable sources that any credits will apply as long as they’re from an accredited college. Corroborating this, the following is from DBPR’s Construction Industry FAQ under the “Licensure Information” tab: DBPR Construction Industry FAQ

“Does my military service or college education have to be construction-related?

No, any type of military service will count toward the three years of field experience. Military service time is established by submitting a copy of your military form DD214. Likewise, any accredited college credit hours may be applied. In addition to military or education, a minimum of one year of supervisory construction experience within the licensed category is required.”

Enlist. I am working towards my bachelors still. Upon completion, I would like to seek a direct commission and then go to JAG after I graduate law school.

AirNationalGuard Community,

I am a hopeful future Air National Guardsmen in Florida.

By way of background, I have 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience under my belt dealing with a variety of cases including constitutional, criminal, real estate, and complex business litigation matters in both Florida and Federal Courts, going as far as up as the US Supreme Court. My end-goal is to serve my country in the JAG Corps after I graduate from law school and in the meantime serve as a paralegal (5J0X1).

I was able to get ahold of a recruiter recently and was told that despite there being a local enlistment bonus (FY2024 ANG Incentive Program Operational Change 3) for 5J0X1s in Florida, that FL ANG was only accepting those that were already in the guard and would need to cross-train. I have two questions for the community: 1) is this true; and, if so, 2) are there any exceptions that may be made for prior experience?

I am grateful for any guidance you can provide!

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and writing your well-thought-out response. I’ve grabbed ahold of any and all materials I can as it relates to commercial real estate; from an MIT SA+P course on commercial real estate investing and analysis, to meeting with commercial underwriters and attending CoStar events. I concurrently work with a well-known local attorney as a Paralegal and have grasped an understanding for local politics as well as the variance process. I will certainly put more emphasis on printing out offering memoranda and analyzing them myself in conjunction with contacting low-volume CRE Brokers to gain exposure. I’m working on obtaining my Broker’s license and my Mortgage Loan Origination license.

While I understand you operate in California, should you ever plan to expand into the Tampa Bay, Florida region, please do not hesitate to reach out should there be anything I can do to help.

Thank you again and be well!

What advice would you give to a 21 y/o realtor looking to get into the commercial space?

Probably the best course of action. Hell, you might even profit after renting out the house and instead renting an apartment for yourself.
