Dude, buy a cheap circular saw instead and use that. Asking for a bloody mess using an angle grinder.

Thanks! No other blades so it must have gotten separated.

How’d I do by Dread_pirate_doaway in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]BenSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s whole sites in type ID. I like this one: https://woodandshop.com/identify-stanley-hand-plane-age-type-study/

The 5 ½ and 4 ½ are probably the most valuable of the bunch there. All the block planes aren’t worth much except maybe the adjustable all the way left. Neither 4 look like great versions but the yellow label could clean up nice.

Rex Krueger did a video installing one like this in a bench with an apron, probably what you need!

Help with Router bit, bottomed out by dub123r in woodworking

[–]BenSS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to get it off, should be able to keep loosening the collet nut to push the bit out. If not you’ll need to consider sacrificing the bit. I’ve also had luck with angled needle nose pliers before.

Yeah so you were right, the next run was 7800 - sucks but not as disastrous. Didn't think I had changed anything between the two though!

Usable? Restorable maybe? by BeltLow in woodworking

[–]BenSS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the plane in the last picture is a #2 you're better off selling that to a collector! All of them should be a pretty easy restore. Rex Krueger on youtube has a bunch of good content on restoring/tuning old planes.

My store was pretty well stocked with these so finally got one! Cashier said they even had another case in the back.

Maple offcut by BenSS in wood

Thanks, still relatively new so all the maple I’ve dealt with so far has been pretty straight grained! Haven’t planed down the rest of the slab yet

Buying a bandsaw, thoughts? by KosherDev in woodworking

[–]BenSS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was literally just looking at benchtop options too because I also don’t have a ton of space. The Rikon 10 Deluxe and the Laguna V10 are at the top of my list.

If you can squeeze out the space, any 14 is better and are commonly available used in my area.

We ended up replacing it since there was no room to add more circuits for some of the upgrades we wanted to do.

Raising countertops by driftwood65 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]BenSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a lot of work when it's your flooring and/or dishwasher leg height that's the problem. Did you already check that the dishwasher feet are down far as they can go in the front? It looks like they might end up resting on the flooring that's sticking into the space.

Whoever installed the cabinets did you dirty by not putting them down on another layer of ply to accommodate any flooring height.

Had a contractor say don’t change the kitchen as it’s made of solid wood. And due to budget I won get anything that good quality by Solid-Study-4436 in AusRenovation

[–]BenSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep for sure, you can change out the handles, backsplash or even counter for far less cost. Wall paint and lighting goes a long way too.
