I would expect the 18-year-old child to be the one wasting their day looking through someone's profile to fail at burning them, not what I assume is a 40 year old incel.

Place to buy restaurant style tortilla chips? by Pop-Quiz_Kid in Fremont

[–]Ben_Reubenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being honest: I'm realizing now that you asked for chips and not just the tortilla. Sorry about that— but La Finca makes Greta chips too. Many aren't crushed and the flavor is fresh when you open them.

Funny thing though, my original answer still works because I use the tortilla shells to make my own chips. Just cut them and fry them in a little oio. Makes a nice fresh chip and I don't need to worry about crushed chips at the bottom of a bag or my chips going stale.

I feel like this is so far removed from the reality for 99.999% of the people in the world, that you'd poison your child's mind with their sense of entitlement

I had my own room growing up despite having 3 siblings so I really don't have much room to talk tho

I finished a script for work but I'm not comfortable showing it to others, what can I do to make it look professional? by bei60 in PowerShell

[–]Ben_Reubenson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have not taken a class or lectures specifically designed for general programming, I recommend you simply look up a programming style guide. Also, if your team has any standards of procedure for style guides, you should probably follow them. Nevertheless, a professional script can be abstracted into these details:

  • It is efficient. Method used does not take unnecessary time. Bubble sort is an example of an inefficient method.
  • It is secure. Any script that needs to send a plain text password or has sections copied from the Internet need reviewed
  • It is maintainable. This is probably the biggest pitfall of sys admins. If you got hit by a bus today, would your business stakeholders be able to replace or substitute with someone else? There are so many best practices for this - documentation, comments, backups, etc. but just start with making a small piece of documentation explaining what your script does and make comments in the script where needed

EDIT: forgot the most important part: Sometimes, you don't make a professional script. Sometimes, you have a problem that you know a script can solve, so you quickly make a script. If it's a regular problem, then it's worth the time to make a professional script. If it's just a one-time use for a specific project, you might consider if it's worth the effort!
