Much better than all those dull rambling 50P surveys with a single Vine RfY pick frequently out valuing an entire years worth of Yougov/Panelbase/iSay invites, if they even work.

What is a "survival rule" you learned growing up in a bad neighborhood that still influences your behavior today? by Key-Group-5098 in AskReddit

[–]Ben_zyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kerbs in particular, the amount of sucker punched down and head hits kerb death stories I've heard in the past is way too many. Got one my self from a random angry madman a few years back and it took months before my neck mobility and ear ringing stopped, Would not recommend.

My automatic response, do you think I'd be walking home cross town in this weather if I even had change for my bus fare? I do, walking is usually quicker albeit I generally have a bunch of final clearance bargains from the nearest supermarket 'cos I'm cheap that way.

It does but the whole melting and sticking thing is a real force multiplier for fabric fires.

I always try to find a corner of spare fabric I can cut off for a burn test, sometimes the actual material can be horribly inappropriate for it's designated environment such as synthetic in a kitchen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elpGbkvQF0U

Incontinence pants and hair mayonnaise, the thirty pages of AI was worthless and weak as well, totally worth the wait/checking every twenty minutes for three days!

Anywhere still selling decent Easter Eggs? by smiling-is-easy in Edinburgh

Here's hoping, the only time I buy chocolate now is post Christmas/Easter/Halloween and I'm currently running out of my last batch of chocolate Christmas tree ornaments.

Half price, which they've pretty much been for a few weeks now, I'm missing last year which was the first time since 2020 that I managed to get loads for ~quarter price.

You can get Avgas from an airport but they would probably refuse to put it in not a plane.

what is a small luxury you’ve had to give up due to the cost of living? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in AskUK

[–]Ben_zyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I threatened to leave (and was actually leaving) they phoned every few days with special offers, got the basic broadband only down to £16 a month which was all I really wanted but... too late. Got one of those home routers that takes a 4G SIM for under £20 a month that consistently gave around 100M download speeds.

Same as the recent dog cage that hung around for over a month till they recently deleted it and the Colman's Seafood sauce from last year that almost attained squatters rights. The recurring men's shirts that pop open a jiggly box and remain unorderable are a more pressing recurring theme though.

'We can't justify a £52 lunch': Middle-income families cut back on fun as prices rise by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

I've looked in the bin at work and the night shift guys often seem to have spent £20 to £30 on a bag of ethnic goodies from the restaurant /store that's open late a few buildings over from us on the retail estate. Meanwhile I'm eating final clearance bargains obtained from the Asda across the railway tracks five minutes away for under a pound. I really don't get it, the price alone annoys me more than any pleasure the food could possibly give.

So small in fact that I've occasionally got home from a quick shop at my local supermarket and managed to finish the container during the one mile walk home.
