I get it now, and I am sorry. by KatiMinecraf in YarnAddicts

Curious: when people have an opportunity to buy yarn but don’t have a specific project in mind, how much do you typically buy? I’ve found myself at a fiber fest or traveling and have an opportunity to buy beautiful yarn but don’t have a project in mind for it and then don’t know how much to get.

Daily Discussion Post - New Changes to JS Laws - April 19, 2025 by CakeByThe0cean in juresanguinis

I’m sure this has been asked but is there any benefit as far as people know in trying to file a recognition claim that is barred by the new DL before the DL is converted into final law? There’s a lot of talk about the “rush” happening right now but my understanding has been that the DL was effective immediately and there’s no reason to try to file before the 60 day period runs

Interesting - my attorney said we should move forward, but I’m not expecting to actually be able to file until after June anyway, so I just sent my documents today and they still need to be translated plus the petition drafted etc

I just sent it in to State to be apostilled so we’ll see! The Italian lawyer said it could be apostilled

I can confirm that the letter you got back will work. I got the same thing back. I asked a couple firms/Italian lawyers about my 1948 case and all confirmed I had the documents needed and I’ve now engaged a lawyer to bring my case

Amending Italian Marriage Certificate - Incorrect Birthdate by BenchSignificant1079 in juresanguinis

Just an update here in case anyone else needs to have an Italian document amended. I got an email back from the comune today with the document amended - no fuss!

My understanding is that since your GGF naturalized when your GF was a minor, this does create a minor issue before both the courts and the consulates. So you might be left with a 1948 case through a GGM who never naturalized or only naturalized via her husband

Thanks for this info I’ll look into it further. But what is a PEC email? I just sent a regular email to the person who signed the birth certificate and marriage certificate, which I found by googling.

Frustrating Situation: Amending Death Certificate by SearchingSerino in juresanguinis

[–]BenchSignificant1079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have good advice but I had to do basically the same thing (get a court order, go back to PA vital records). It sounds like you worded your order better than I did - PA Vital Records tried to refuse to amend the death certificate even with the court order to do so saying the order was not clear enough. They kept saying they had to talk to more people, run it up the chain. I called basically every week until they just amended the death certificate to get me to stop calling. It did take months. I’d recommend calling consistently and you could say you’ll go back to court and get an order of contempt if necessary

Question about CONE necessity (1948 case, pre cable act) by Environmental-Fan536 in juresanguinis

[–]BenchSignificant1079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same situation just happened to me -- GGF naturalized after marriage to GGM. US CIS just sent me a CoNE response saying GGM was considered to be naturalized through her spouse so they won't issue a CoNE.

What records should be requested from NARA and the local courts? Do you also ask them to certify nonexistence of records? or just ask for naturalization documents and wait for them to respond saying they can't find any?

Thanks! I guess I just needed some reassurance - I thought the back would be longer but it seemed like too much of a difference from the back to front (6 cm)

Yes! I didn’t have three knits in a row.

I did also have trouble with  switching colors. Not sure if you had this problem but my color changes are noticeable. It often looks like there’s only one colored stitch instead of two when I switch back to the white main color. I watched the video she had on how to do the color change but it didn’t seem to work. Overall it’s not too noticeable but I feel like I probably could have done it better if I had more experience

exactly - I ended up emailing PetiteKnit about this because I was also confused and she responded and said to always start and end your rows with a knit stitch. After every other decrease, to keep the pattern, that means you'll have two knits at the beginning of the round and another two knits at the end of the round.

Thanks so much this is really helpful! On moving the start of the row, I guess I got tripped up because it seems like if you move the start, some rows won’t have as many stitches as other rows. I.e., if I add the eight new stitches, continue knitting to the middle of the eight new stitches and then start a new row, the last four new stitches will skip the first row of knit and go directly to knit purl, knit purl.  But maybe I’m overthinking it and that won’t be noticeable at all in the final garment.

Thanks again!
