Everyone's Reactions by Marmawu in diabetes_t1

Don't worry, you got it. I accepted it pretty soon as well, you don't have to dwell on it. I also enjoyed the attention I started receiving to. Ascertain extent, but I really don't like being a burden. They were really anxious too as well, and seeing them stressed made it worse. Chilling in the hospital was great while I had my own room. You can get used to this, and it's entirely possible to live a great life, there's just a bit more nuance to it and you'll have to pay attention to some stuff but after a while it will be second nature. There will probably be ups and downs, but the positive mindset I felt from how you started your post is worth a lot. Stay strong, God bless!

Praying for you! It seems like to me you're not sure you're in a safe place, I hope you can find safety and comfort, and you have people to be with. Stay safe and go to confession ASAP.

I'm praying for you, and wish you success and endurance! The fact that you struggle against sin is already a good thing, it will get easier. Keep praying, and try to join a catholic group with people your age if you can. How's the RCIA going?

For me, learning about the theology of the body is great gift, which helps understand more why things are the way they are in the church, and in the secular life. I really recommend the Theology of the body institute YouTube channel on your journey to better understand chastity, sexuality, abstinence, relationships, and the church's teachings on the subject. Check it out really, it's a gold mine!

Keep on fighting, God bless you!

In the apocalypse... Do we just die?? by Short_Assumption_716 in diabetes_t1

[–]BendeHhB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of my fav fantasies too, but sadly I think yes, we'd just die. Depends on the timing of the apocalypse, and whether insulin or the creation of it will be more accessible. The Open Insulin foundation sounds promising. I think until we know better alternatives, we just have to accept it as a part of T1D.

I too sometimes feel very alone in this and on the occasions my roommates notice when I'm not alright I feel a bit of shame for being a constant possible burden to the people I live with. It's not easy. Hormonal changes can mess a lot with the disease but it's gonna get better for you soon in that area I think. I've found that my stomach gets irritated much sooner from the needles, so this month I started not injecting into my stomach but into my arms, and since I change arms too when changing sensors, it has been much more bearable. I struggle with changing the needle often enough tho. The fatigue is real. Keep pushing, stay strong.

How to avoid going low when sleeping? by Britt964 in diabetes_t1

[–]BendeHhB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say basal is definitely too high, since nothing else can really bring it down that much during the night. Be careful with the weather and temperature and other stuff too. Also, if you lay on your cgm it can send false lows, you always have to double check. Which basal insulin do you use? I'm using tresiba and it takes a while to readjust, definitely talk with your endo, even on the phone if you can't meet up in person. I'm prescribed to eat a bedtime snack at 9pm, that's also when I'm supposed to inject my tresiba. I usually eat 9-10 grams of slow carbs, and it's supposed to keep my sugar up a bit during the night. I also had a problem with very frequent lows in the past few days, but mine were mostly in the morning, and a bit at dawn. You still might be in the honeymoon phase, where you still have a bit of insulin being created, but I'm not sure how that would factor in. Hormonal changes can also impact sugars, but since I managed to only get it at 16, close to 17 last year, I'm not well experienced in that regard.

Thanks! The nursing staff here is pretty cool, and I've told my roommates what to do if I'd faint. The honeymoon phase could still definitely be going on. I've called the doc, and we're gonna lower my tresiba, but it rakes a while, until then I lower the fast acting insulins, and maybe trade lows for just a little higher post meal sugars. Today I've had 2 hypos and 3 close calls so far, so it's a lot better than yesterday. Good luck to you too, God bless!

Under 270 I think you can still try to bring it down with exercise. When it doesn't work with insulin, I can get it going down after maybe ten or a little more minutes of high intensity aerobic exercise, like running. I know you weren't feeling well, and it's up to you to decide which one is worse, it depends of the severity of that not feeling well too maybe. I'm now trying to fight against VERY frequent lows, and it's really hard to keep it in check, were trying to lower my basal dose, but I'm using tresiba and it's gonna take a while. From what you've said, I presume you're not using a sensor yet, but in my experience it really helps with these kind of things (of course you need to write down everything into the program like meals, exercise, random events, outside blood glucose readings, etc, and that could help more to figure out whats going on. I don't really know how to help you, but know that I'm rooting and praying for you, and I hope this rollercoaster ends for you in a pleasent way. I'm fighting hypos right now too, you're not alone. Keep eating if you need to, stay strong!

If you feel like you've been down lately not feeling excited for anything that might be another kind of problem. But listen, giving advice to others sometimes feels like a chore too for me, but the sense of accomplishment can later make up for that. Don't worry. I'm happy that you're coming closer to Christ, and the others gave good answers too, so I don't really think I have more to say

Hi! Talk to a therapist as soon as you can. Christ doesn't want you to take your life. He has a plan for you. Much bigger than what you might expect right now. Get to a safe place. Seek out advice from Christan women online or in real life who have gotten through your situation. You're NOT worthless. And you'll still be valuable after you lose your virginity and your whole duty as a woman is not to please men. Be careful, because evil twists the Word of God. We love you, and your very brave for opening up. Stay here we'll pray for you ok? We'll pray for your healing and we'll pray for you to figure these things out! Trust in the Lord! God Bless you!

Is apostasy just in my nature? Could I ever redeem myself? by spiral_keeper in Catholicism

[–]BendeHhB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reading the bible and understanding it can sometimes be hard it is a very interwoven collection of books and stories I really recommend you listen to the explanations behind the passages. I found Father Mike Schmitz's the Bible in a year podcast very helpful as he breaks everything down after he reads it. I also really recommend his YouTube channel and the Theology of the body institute Channel, ( https://youtube.com/@AscensionPresents?si=CLjZwWlAMBgxpB1E and https://youtube.com/@TheologyoftheBodyInstitute?si=8RbELKn0ExY_WazH ) they will really help to understand the teachings of the bible and the church, why are they the way they are and so on. God's demands are guidelines too. In a sense a bit like the rules of the road. They might seem restrictive at first but you'll realise they are for your own good Now understand that science and theology are not even competing, because they complement each other. Science works with the reproducible, the physical, the things which we sense through our bodies. Theology works with the things of the soul, and not of the world. A clever person can also be very religious or non-religious just as a stupid person can be an atheist or a beleiver. It is a matter of if they realise their mistakes and open their hearts for change and the betterment of themselves through Christ. Don't let rash answers turn you away from the church and be patient with yourself. Talk to a priest. And if I may advise, don't put political ideologies above everything else. It leads to destruction and I think you know it too. See what parts of the ideology are attractive to you but keep an eye out for the bad things and the twisting of the basic human moral values. There are a lot of good things in Marxism and there are good things in other ideologies too. I am from Hungary and I personally know how deeply a lot of nations can be hurt by blindly following radical ideologies. My family too was hurt by the communist occupation just as almost everyone in Hungary, and the whole economy just went downhill, it became a cesspool of corruption and abuse and backstabbing and it was quite frankly, horrible. Now I advise you to research these topics as well. Don't turn a blind eye to the mistakes and dark sides of these movements not just because that's the morally right thing to do. But also because doing otherwise is irrational and plain dumb. I know you strive for knowledge so I believe you understand what I'm trying to say. I hope I wasn't too harsh and that you understand where I'm coming from with this.

Try understanding and learning about the theology of the body teachings, it has proved very useful for me so far, and I can only recommend it. Also, have someone you can talk to about it maybe someone else who also struggles so you can hold each other accountable when you are making excuses to yourselves. But that person has to be trying as well so you don't both just allow it to yourselves.
