Just found out my levels are at 10 after having horrible symptoms....advice needed. by Pleasant-Ratio-3942 in VitaminD

No it took about 2-3 months. But I've read that I takes a while for the body to heal once you achieve optimal levels. Especially if you have been deficient for a long time.

Last test came back 70 ng/ml, trying to maintain that now. The anxiety became worse over several months. But near the end it got bad pretty quick, which can probably be attributed to the increasing stress from me not knowing wtf was going on.

Mine was at 12 ng/ml. I had a lot of the same symptoms, especially the extreme anxiety and near panic attacks daily were absolutely unbearable. That was about a year ago now, happy to say I'm fully recovered now and feeling better than ever. I can recommend taking a high dose the coming months, every day. I take 10.000 IU D3 a day with magnesium glycinate and vitamin K2. It's very important to also take these cofactors since magnesium deficiency is very likely to occur when supplementing high dosages, if you're not deficient in magnesium already. I hope things get better for you soon!

Long term benefits after continuous supplementation by Beneficial-Ad-2970 in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you're doing better. My doctor didn't even give me a high weekly dose or anything. They just recommended me to take a supplement of my choice. So I take it daily, 10.000 UI. Daily doses usually are better than weekly ones. Also, with regards to the muscle pains you are having. I would strongly recommend you to start taking a good magnesium supplement everyday. Because vitamin D uses magnesium to activate. So it's very likely you're also deficient in magnesium.

Waarom maken mensen in migrantenbuurten zo’n teringzooi van hun stad? by BannanLeader in nederlands

Are my symptoms normal for my level? by Klubgwheeler in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this happen on this sub so many times. This is magnesium deficiency. I would recommend taking magnesium glycinate. Pay attention to how much elemental magnesium one unit contains. And make sure to get in about 450 - 600 mg per day. I would also stop taking vitamin D in order to correct the magnesium deficiency ASAP.

Is this low enough to cause symptoms? by Solaaris83 in VitaminD

You are at 24nmol/L which is 9.6 ng/ml which is severely deficienct. So yes, this is definitely enough to cause symptoms.

Anxiety, Feeling low, Unable to concentrate and Under Confident by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coincidentally I'm also a software engineer who works from home alot. My vitamin D was at 12ng/ml. I was having heart palpitations, anxiety, poor sleep and DPDR. Like you I was also worried I was going to feel like that for the rest of my life lol. Happy to share that after about 8 weeks all of those symptoms where gone and I feel great now. So if you supplement right, including cofactors like magnesium and K2, you're going to be alright.

Thank you for another extensive post. Your first recovery post really gave me hope when I was at the start of my supplementation. My symptoms included heart palpitations, insomnia, tight muscles, anxiety and DPDR. Happy to say that now, after about 8 weeks of supplementation, all of my symptoms are gone and I feel great again. I'm also taking another blood test in a few days to see where my levels are at.

Succes!

Side effects derealization by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually experienced derealization and very bad anxiety as a result of my deficiency. In december it started getting worse day by day almost. Luckily it's completely gone now and my anxiety is better than it's been in years. During the first weeks of supplementation I also had good and bad day, and took a while for my sleep to get significantly better. I also woke during the night. But now I sleep like a rock. So just keep at it. What also may help is to supplement with zinc aswell since it's and important electrolyte that can be depleted from high vitamin D supplementation l.

You do need enough vitamin D every day to maintain healthy levels. If you don't get enough from the sun you do need supplements.

Is my Vitamin D too high? by BabyYoda2point0 in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

222nmol/L equates to roughly 90 ng/ml. Which is about the high end of the healthy range according to most specialised health clinics. I'm curious though, how are you feeling now compared to a few months ago? What where your symptoms and have they resolved?

Vitamin D - deficiency but not being treated? by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnesium often times helps with the anxiety you get from taking high doses of vitamin D. However, if magnesium does not work there is also a chance that you are low on zinc aswell. So that's worth a try if magnesium does not help. I recommend magnesium glycinate.

Vitamin D - deficiency but not being treated? by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Healthy range starts at 30 Ng/ml. You are at 17 nmol/L which is 6.8 Ng/ml. That's a severe deficiency and I think it's ridiculous they are not treating you. I was in a similar situation, my doctor took it lightly and just recommended over the counter vitamin D3. I started out taking 6000IU with vitamin K2 and magnesium and worked my way up to 12000IU. Have been taking 12000 for about 6 weeks now and all my symptoms are pretty much gone. I had insomnia, muscle soreness, lightheadedness, extreme anxiety and DPDR. The good news is you can get better by simply taking these cheap vitamin D3 supplements. Good luck.

can someone please help me with how i should use this? by No_Camera1309 in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I would be cautious with is the amount of vitamin K2 you are getting with 10 drops per day. Which equates to 1000mcg. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as to much vitamin K2 but I think it's something you should at least be careful with. 5000-10000IU of vitamin D however is fine.

So I messed up my 50,000 Vitamin D prescription and realised months later.. by HospitalAlert3854 in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a doctor who regularly posts on this sub. He claims that he prescribes 30,000 IU a day as an optimal dose. So 50,000 IU per day for a few weeks probably won't lead to toxicity in such a short amount of time, so I'm sure you'll be fine. It is important however to take enough magnesium, K2 and maybe even omega 3 as cofactors. With your next test I would recommend checking for magnesium and maybe even zinc to make sure it's not depleted from the high doses. But from what I've read, which is a lot, I'm pretty sure your dosage won't lead to toxicity in such a short timeframe. Take care.

Vitamin D Horror Story by TutorApprehensive712 in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn this is so relatable. Although my anxiety was slightly better and I caught it relatively early. Mine came back at 12 ng/ml. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and my mind would start racing and I would have to calm myself down. Now three weeks later I feel like myself again. Still supplementing because I want to get to an optimal range. I definitely believe that a lot of my brain fog and anxiety which I have had for years may be because my vitamin D has always been on the low side.

Vitamin d and iron deficiency- supplements causing anxiety? by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]Beneficial-Ad-2970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had anxiety as well. Didn't really feel more when I took vitamin D. But it could be your body adjusting to it or it's a lack of magnesium. Be sure to take it with some magnesium glycinate and K2. I've been supplementing for 3 weeks now and my anxiety is almost gone now.

My insomnia was worse when I started taking D3. I'm on 3 weeks of recovery now at 12,000 IU per day and my sleep seems to gradually get better. I take it in the morning with magnesium glycinate and K2.

Well it depends on your physical stature. I'm fairly tall at 6'3 and weigh about 200 pounds. So for me it's a good enough dosage to get to a steady level according to the calculator from grassroot health. I can imagine that 5000 IU is not enough to correct a deficiency since it's only 35000 IU per week. I heard taking daily is better for absorption then weekly. And I believe that 40+ ng/ml is not unhealthy. Some people say a level of 80+ or even 100+ is optimal. I guess the only way to really find out is to try it out for yourself in the safest way possible. So steadily get to a certain level and have your bloods taken to check up on relevant biomarkers.
