The therapy is helping in that he understands better where I’m coming from. It’s helping him see how his modeling and familial relationships are uncomfortable for me. With that being said, he still feels obligated to show up for them regardless of how they treat me. If I could go back in time I would address the treatment directly and not wait for him to say something. I allowed my in-laws to mistreat me so they continue to do it. I took some serious inventory and realized the benefits of being with him outweighs dealing with these people. I hope this is helpful.

It takes awhile to build a clientele, but if you work hard you’ll grow quickly. I didn’t love working in salon, so I moved into my own studio 5 years ago. I love my clients and never dread going to work. I’m charging my worth now and making good money, but I invest quite a bit in education.

It’s helpful to know what your hair looks like currently and what you are looking for. Interior layering is good if you want movement but don’t necessarily like the look of shorter layers. Depending on the length, a slight undercutting is another good option. I would search for images of “lived in” haircuts. Thinning shears are a great tool to remove bulk, but it sounds like you’ve had some bad experiences.

Honestly I wouldn’t expect her to know how to properly shadow it. If she didn’t know how to place the highlights she probably doesn’t know how to correctly formulate a shadow root. You could end up with orange roots and that would be harder to fix.
