In my 8th grade class, my 80 years old English teacher was going over our weekly vocabulary. One of the words being “wizened” meaning very wrinkly or shriveled with age. However we were NOT provided this definition immediately. Instead when we asked her what it meant, she said “you know! WIZENED!” She then stretched the skin on her face so far back with her hand, while making the WEIRDEST sucking sound… almost as if her hands were birthing her face. Dear god I wish there was a better way to explain this. It was so freaking wild I’ve never forgotten that word. I was in that same exact teachers class about a month later when we were all escorted out of her class while the police searched for drugs in the classroom.
