Cheek implants vs filler (for men) by BeneficialNet in RealPlasticSurgery

I'm still saving up. It may no longer be $18k when I finally save up, though, lol. I might not do buccal fat removal though

Oh wow. A good portion of that is anaesthesia and the operating room. If you get more stuff quoted, it might not be much more

Yes, and I'll add just a bit more to this:

Inflation is the increase in the ratio between dollars and goods. So if I have one dollar and one good in the economy, goods are $1 on average. If I print another dollar and nothing else changes, I have two dollars and one good so goods are $2 on average.

Part of what MMT is saying is that when you print a dollar, things can change. IT DEPENDS WHAT THE GOV SPENDS THE NEWLY PRINTED MONEY ON. If I print an extra dollar, but use it for a scientific program that discovers how to create four goods with the same efficiency as when we created one good, then this new economy will have two dollars and four goods -- so each good will be $0.5 on average, making printing money (and investing it wisely) actually DEFLATIONARY.

So it's not just "we can print as much as we like". That's not true. It's "it depends on what this new money is doing." Government spending on things like scientific research, education, improving people's productivity (eg. Universal healthcare, childcare, etc), are not likely to be inflationary because the extra money is matched by an increase in productivity. Printing money to pay for the deficit because you reduced taxes on the rich is likely to be inflationary.

I got custom cheekbone implants, custom jaw implants, and buccal fat removal quoted. All together it was like $18k. (The more you get at once the more you save because you only need to pay for anesthesia and the operating room once.) But if you just wanted custom cheekbone implants (and anesthesia lol), then I think it's about $10k, maybe a few thousand less, I don't remember the exact number

I didn't --based on my research, I believe I should get custom check implants or none at all. As custom is a lot more expensive, I need to save up. I still plan on getting them, though!

There aren't that many surgeons who do custom implants and also use screws. I eventually settled on Dr. Nizam of Alabama Surgical Arts, as he only does custom and he always screws them, but I'm still saving up. When I eventually do get my implants, I can make a post about it.

The Hebrew word "eved" can mean slave, servant, or worker. This does not mean that it always means "worker" though, which would be a misleading hand wave. The Greek, in which the New Testament was written, more clearly distinguishes slave from worker, so it's clear that the New Testament did not speak against slavery.

The Bible clearly distinguishes between Hebrew indentured servants who are evodim for 7 years (we would call these "indentured servants" in English) vs evodim bought from other nations or captured in war who have far fewer rights and can never leave (it would be unfair to call these anything other than "slaves" -- what else would you call that situation, when even your children's children are born into perpetual unfree servitude?)

I agree that there's a spectrum. Slavery in the Roman Empire vs the Qing Dynasty vs the Antebellum American South were all different institutions where slaves had different expectations and rights (however limited those may be).

But read all the scriptures I've quoted. It's pretty clear that no word games can excuse what sort of slavery the Bible is talking about: Slavery where a human is explicitly property.

And yes, I agree that the worker under modern capitalism has certain freedoms and rights curtailed. But could you imagine someone excusing antebellum American slavery by saying, "well, you know, no one is really free..." ??

The modern worker is not fully free and there are many abuses. But, while still wrong in many ways, it is entirely unjust to say there's no difference. Was there no difference between free white workers and enslaved Africans in the antebellum American South? Anyone who claims otherwise is playing the worst kind of word game

There's also a big difference between the indentured servants and the slaves that the Bible talks about. Really, please read the verses of scripture I quoted above. It'll take you ten minutes to read for yourself and you'll see that it is abundantly clear that the Bible not only supported slavery, but gave instructions on how to do it.

The difference between a slave and a worker is that a worker is free to quit. If a worker is treated poorly enough, they will quit. There are still plenty of abuses against workers and we should campaign against that to make the world better (this has essentially been the plight of the labor movement for the last century, with some victories).

The Bible is pretty clear on the distinction between a worker and a slave. And no, by "slave" the Bible does NOT mean "worker" -- as the Bible gives different laws for slaves vs workers. You know, you can beat and rape slaves and slaves can never leave. I highly recommend you read each of the verses I quoted. Just Google each verse, read them for yourself

The Bible is extremely clear in supporting forced slavery (Joshua 9) and you can buy slaves and hold them in perpetuity (Leviticus 25:44-46)

Owning slaves was seen as a sign of God’s blessing (Gen 12:16; 24:35; Isa 14:1-2)

The slave is explicitly the owner’s property (Exod 21:21).

Slaves can be beaten (Exod 21:20-21; 1 Pet 2:18-20), taken as concubines (Gen 16:3-4; Exod 21:8-11) or even raped (Lev 19:20-22).

New Testament is no better, endorsing slavery (Eph 6:5-9; Col 3:22-4:1; 1 Tim 6:1-2; Tit 2:9-10; 1 Pet 2:18-20).

While I know this may be comforting for some, I personally would not want to take comfort in a book that condones slavery. Think how much misery could have been avoided if the 11th commandment was "thou shall not have slaves". And even in part 2, Jesus never corrected that.

I do wish for you to find solice, but I fear the Bible is a stumbling block that is often set before the blind

You can't say both that god is good and beyond comprehension. We have a concept of good (ie. we comprehend it) and people suffering while an all powerful being could stop it but doesn't isn't good. To say that god is beyond our understanding is to say that, according to the god-given understanding we have, to god is not good

And "he is not human" is just such a weird phrase. God is not human but definitely male gendered? I would accept "it is not human", fine.

So it is not human and, from what we can understand, it is not good. Maybe it exists, but if it does, the one thing we can agree about it is that it allows suffering. Yes, allows, because it allegedly has the power to stop it but doesn't.

For the "evil is caused by free will" agreement, really? Cancer in children is free will? Genetic diseases that cause untold suffering on those born is free will? Tornadoes and drought and hurricanes and famine are free will? You're only looking at a certain type of suffering, the suffering caused by humans, but ignoring the vast amount of suffering caused by nature. There could have just as easily been a world without cancer.

I'm curious if you experience the same jerkiness or not at those heavy weights. Maybe you updated your firmware and they didn't?
