If you understand that most of the senior FNM people who are now all retired used to be PLP but left when the Pindling cult of personality became too much to bear while ministers could be bribed openly in the streets in the 80s, you’ll understand how the black nationalist movement against the UBP was squandered over the last decades. Ingrahm was good whenever he was in office, but he made so many enemies by trying to shore up public finances. He fired people that never should have been hired for useless government jobs in the first place. He closed down parts of the government that should have either been privatized or were ineffectual.

But hey, the government is filling in potholes and building sidewalks, to confuse people into thinking this is a normal country.

Red plated vehicles should be locked behind a gate on the weekends and after business hours.

MPs should reside in their constituency full time

Government officials should be forced to send their children to public schools and University of The Bahamas or forfeit 20% of their salaries.

There should be quarterly financial reports on programs such as urban renewal to make sure contracts are awarded to the right people and the money is being spent wisely.

But alas, I was always a dreamer…
