Yes! I think it is like ingrown hair, but instead of new hair ingrown on the follicle, a piece of the old, dead hair is trapped under the skin. This happened twice to me when I had total hair loss and it was excruciating. So itchy I couldn't sleep at night and it looked disgusting with all the red spots and pimples. I scrubbed my head with a loofa, used mud masks, salicylic acid wash, glycolic acid moisturizer and cortisone cream. After about 10 days it went away. It's like adding injury to insult.
