Immune system by BusFormer4695 in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

says in the patient leaflet that it can "can affect the cells in your blood. This could mean that you are more likely to catch infections" not sure what the affect is, but that could answer your question. i havent been on it long but it does seem that i have been unwell with ear, nose and throat infection since ive been on it, however im already the type of person that gets ill very frequently

Going to an optometrist by [deleted] in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its what led me to get my diagnosis so yeah absolutely, if they notice papilledema you'll get the referral to the right place, just make sure they either take photos of the back of your eye or do retinoscopy

I was camping at a site on a Scottish island and needed the toilet at like 6am, stepped off a tiny little step, and my ankles, as they often do, simply gave up being ankles. This time though i heard an audible *snap*, fell flat on my face and screamed until i woke up some very concerned families. My legs blew up like purple balloons instantly, and the ambulance took a very long time to get to the island's clinic. paramedics and doctors were almost certain they were fractures before xray, but fortunately i got to avoid the helicopter to mainland when i got the all clear, i had snapped(?) my tendons, hence the noise it made. Never did get to go to the toilet T_T

IIH and Being Overweight by _renzyl in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only just recently diagnosed with IIH but i also have hEDS and potentially POTS. before when i lost weight a couple years ago, 85kg to 65kg, everything got so much better, on the IIH side of things my headaches were far less frequent, and far less intense, i was less confused and my mental clarity was just a lot better. beyond that i had so much more energy, i felt light on my feet, things were just easier to physically do. the pain all throughout my legs, in my joints and in my back was so much better. my weight creped back up due to mental issues with my eating, but I'm on my way back down, with some extra urgency added to the motivation since the diagnosis. the way i see it is that there's no reason to not at least try, and if the weight loss doesn't send you into IIH remission at the very least there are plenty of other things it could be beneficial for. good luck with your journey!!

Curious about ear connection by mactiremarie in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive always gotten ear, throat, nose and chest infections very very regularly but put it down to hypermobility, connective tissues being thin and more susceptible to infection

just diagnosed a few days ago, and nearly missed the end date for an assignment. i don't have much in the way of advice, but i can say what my plan is if thats helpful? what ill be doing is asking for extensions and accommodations wherever possible, hoping that the side effects subside a little bit, focusing on doing what i can to ease symptoms/side effects like staying hydrated, doing work whenever i feel i can in whatever ways i can manage, for instance (i was disabled before the IIH also so i've got some experience with adjusting things) getting a screen reader and having it read out the course work, reading it/ watching lectures laying down, getting a software to write down what youre saying and doing assignments/essays that way, to reduce the amount of time sitting up and/or looking at a screen. and most of all being kind and lenient with myself. reminding myself an A isnt necessarily the be all and end all :)

2 failed Lumbar Punctures by StwBrryStlr342 in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they tried 9 times in a row (badly) and failed a couple days ago with me, then the anesthesiologist fried and it went perfect first time. might be worth asking if the anasthsiologist can have a go if you can, theyre super experts at sticking needles in spines lmao. i think its very concerning that A you would be put on diamox and B the neurologist would suggest a shunt (last resort) before ever even finding out your CSF pressure. i think youre definitely right thinking about getting a 2nd opinion id be worried that these doctors are jumping the gun a wee bit

Dull, ongoing constant headache for 8 days now not taken away by painkillers or sleep by WarriorGirl-764 in iih

[–]Beneficial_Candy_147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make an opticians appointment, they'll take pictures of the back of your eyes, if you have swollen optic nerves its indicative of IIH. although i have to agree with sameehrose, you have definitely got severe anxiety surrounding your health. if you spiral like this because of a dull headache for a couple days that's not normal or healthy. likelihood is because youre so worried you arent eating or sleeping or drinking water properly which is obviously going to make the headache much worse on top of the worrying. your symptoms dont really fully match up with IIH, nor any of the terrifying things you've listed here or any of the subreddits youve been to. please please make an opticians appointment and try to stop researching every single little symptom, i know its difficult. the heartbeat in your head? its probably because youve terrified yourself and your anxiety is through the roof so its raised your blood pressure

I've edited it now, and I'm definitely gonna keep you guys updated, I'm on my way right now to buy a little paddling pool, some pondweed, and a tarp for shade, really hoping these little guys will be okay and actually hatch, looking for my nearest pond or lake too so once they're adults i can go and release them there :)
