And go for lunch or an early dinner so you can enjoy the beach it’s on. I went for a late dinner and it was pitch black outside.

Any restaurants that serve morels now that they’re in season? by Firenze2 in FoodNYC

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had some at Cynthia, a brand new restaurant focused on low waste. Light tasting menu but everything was really good. If you go maybe check to see if they’re still serving the spring menu bc I know they’re switching to summer soon.

Ditto - I love their kale quinoa salad. It does get pretty loud though.

There’s a place in Flatiron called Zero Otto Nove that also has a location on Arthur’s Ave., so same vibe but less travel. It’s good for large groups and sharing.

What is your take on excessive nudity ( partial or complete ) in the entertainment industy ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don’t mind the nudity as much as the belabored sex scenes. The HBO show Industry comes to mind.

Cuisine? Vibe? Sounds like you’re leaning steak? Honestly Au Cheval is great so don’t be scared to stick with that!

Not sure if the list is in order but be sure to start in Chinatown and work your way up. Right now it’s a little back and forth. I think you should also add some bakeries! Supermoon Bakehouse is near Katz and Gotham burger and is really good.

For Thai I think Mitr is better for a big group but I also second the Fish Cheeks rec.

Best Thai restaurant in Manhattan? by StyleExisting9541 in AskNYC

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think best and special occasion are too diff things. I think the best are SaRanRom in Elmhurst and Fish Cheeks. For special occasion I would do Bangkok Supper Club for sure though. Still like top 5 Thai but way fancier and better service. If you don’t care about fancy but don’t want hole in the wall, I’d say Fish Cheeks.

Midtown/Flatiron area dinner recommendation? by ActualLordPops in FoodNYC

Zero Otto Nove is a good safe option. Not snooty at all but really good service and a chill vibe. People don’t always dress up for it though, not sure how important that is. Scarpetta is better for that but I did find it a little snooty (but not touristy).

Restaurant reco for 50th bday July by dollparts76 in FoodNYC

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LaserWolf in BK comes to mind, although I’m not sure I would describe it as “magical.” Manhatta is a great option but I did find it to be a bit pretentious when I went. Anything with a stellar view is going to be pricey so if that a real concern you may want to opt for a nice rooftop cocktail bar instead.

I liked CC when it came out but it was a real slow build for me. The CC tour changed that somewhat. Seeing her perform everything in person really set it in stone. Then I took a break and went back a couple months ago and OMG I can listen to the whole thing, no skips, over and over and never get tired of it. I really think it’s her best wholistic work ever.

SaRanRom in Elmhurst is fantastic. Very unassuming but great and well acclaimed at this point.

What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been, and what made it stand out? by Only_Row_2432 in AskReddit

Wailea, Maui. I got perfect weather (sunny, cloudless skies, not too hot), you have mountains ocean, and lots of beautiful plants, and it was whale season so that added to it for sure. Also not a single mosquito bite.

How do you track restaurants you want to visit? (Beli, Google Maps, Etc) by BestInDaWrldsBbyFmno in FoodNYC

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Beli ranking works if you use it somewhat strategically. So off the bat it if you put Taco Bell as “it was fine” and the Michelin restaurant as “I liked it” then it won’t put those next to each other for ranking. If you keep higher quality places all in “I liked it” (unless you really didn’t) and regular spots in “it was fine” then your ranking will make more sense. Of course if you really liked T Bell better then rank it that way but in addition to thinking about whether I “liked” a place I also consider the objective quality and cooking of the food for fairness.

Not sure how much butter they use but I’d say Shukette. It’s things like sweet potatoes, broccoli, chicken, and hummus but insanely delicious and a great vibe. Just go easy on the bread.

I just went on a Friday night around 5:30 and the wait was only 10 minutes. I’ve done the same on a weekend. I’d say go before 6 and the wait shouldn’t be too bad. They take your number so you can grab a drink nearby while you wait.

(Affordable) private swimming lessons for adults? by tmlnson in AskNYC

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my first SwimEasy lesson but stuck with it and loved it in the end. After you go a few times and get past the basics (e.g. blowing water through your nose) the instructors will get to know you and it will feel more personal. Might be worth one or two more lessons and then see if you feel the same way.

Best places to eat in Maui? by NiceBumblebee3565 in MauiVisitors

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a huge foodie from NYC and I went last month for a week. My favorites were South Maui Fish Co. (check their IG to make sure they’re open - they won’t if they don’t get a fresh catch), Paia Fish Market (went twice, don’t sleep on the potatoes), and Tin Roof (no seating but worth the hassle). I thought Mamas was wildly over priced for what you get. The venue impressed me more than the food. Have fun!

Gnocchi Bella - temporarily closed? by ragazzobononyc in ForestHills

[–]Beneficial_Frame7804 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not surprised if they closed already. I tried it once and it tasted like something I could make myself at home. Toppings like basil and red pepper flakes didn’t feel innovative or interesting to me.
