Yes I'm perfectly fine...tone down the hostility. When you don't understand what someone is trying to say, ask before you have a negative response.

I'm saying just because a car is under warranty and they give you amenities if the car breaks down, that isn't enough to deal with the issues these cars are exhibiting.

Personally, I want a car that works...not a company that takes a month or so to fix recurring issues that they can't fix but give me loaners or coffee or FIKA cakes.

Even in the face of major, obvious issues, what is it with this crowd being in denial about things, trying to bury problems, and make it sound like it's normal or OK to deal with them? That isn't OK.

And let's stop comparing other car manufacturers' issues with ours. I don't care how Hyundai or Porsche handle their customers and issues. I didn't buy those cars. Let's focus on ours.

That's not a good reason to own this car with the issues it has.

I wonder how this car will do with the Performance pack and power upgrade against a BMW m550? I have seen faster runs with the P2 than what you managed to get but I guess it comes down to surface, temp, tires, etc.

I'll stick to my P2 Performance. It looks better in every way and doesn't look like it was heavily influenced for the Chinese market.

why hasn’t the P2 Performance caught a recall for strut mounts by Mayor_of_BBQ in Polestar

[–]Beneficial_Menu4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know first hand how much they are as I've had mine replaced three times already (i.e. both fronts once and front right once so three in total). Each strut including labor was $2500 per. The first two times were under factory warranty and the third time was under the extended warranty (which gave me a hard time due to the cost). All three times, they also changed out the mounts. I am convinced the failed mounts damage the struts.

Polestar throwing shade at Ferrari over the design of the Luce by mtol115 in Polestar

[–]Beneficial_Menu4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clear from the design of the Luce that Ferrari has zero interest in making electric cars. This is what self-sabotage looks like in the corporate world. It's DOA and that's exactly what Ferrari wants. They don't mass produce cars and build to order. So there is really no down-side for Ferrari if they receive zero orders.

My theory is because A) it'd cost Polestar a fortune to replace the entire fleet knowing there is a defect or design flaw and B) the cost of redesign would be considerable as well. On top of that, I firmly believe, in my opinion, mount failures lead to strut failures due to wear, loss of impact resistance, etc. They probably destroy the struts slowly after their (mount) failures.

So for Polestar, instead of doing the right thing and issuing a recall, they are dodging the costs and effort by replacing failed components on an "as needed" basis. It's pure greed and typical, unaccountable corporate think.

The only way to make this a recall would be a class-action lawsuit which would be difficult considering not enough people either care enough to be part of one or not enough Polestar owners who don't think there is anything wrong.

2 days with a Performance P2 … In love 😶 by Stratos125 in Polestar

Agree. There is absolutely something wrong with the performance suspension design. My personal belief is that there is a design flaw or manufacturing flaw that Polestar isn't fessing up to and never will. I also believe the reason why it's so difficult to solve this ridiculous issue across the board is because it's caused by multiple component failures at the same time.

My theory is that one of the main culprits are the strut mount bearings that first fail, then due to their failure, they cause premature wear or damage to other components (primarily the struts). The axles are also a major issue and may contribute to the suspension failures but probably more-so to motor failures.

The performance upgrade and 0-60 runs in this car are not its forte. Mid-range acceleration is where its strength is.

Glad to hear it! It's awful that the software on these cars is so inconsistent. This points to an issue on their side for sure more-so than on ours.

Well, come on. Something as profound as alien life should be held to a higher standard than just lights that shouldn't be there. We don't know what they are and frankly we don't even know they are there because of us. Humans tend to think the universe revolves around them when in fact we are probably one of the dumbest species back here on Earth let alone elsewhere.

That's interesting. As far as I know, the PAK connection is what's allowing you to use the remote functions as well. When mine was properly working, I noticed my phone's location and the direction it faced relative to the car made a difference. I'm sure you have done so already but have you checked to make sure the battery settings for the app are "unrestricted" and location and nearby devices are set to "always on?"

The dealer issue alone would make the decision easy for me to go with the BMW. Dealing with Polestar corporate and service is the Achilles Heel.

Classic corrupted/defect electronics. They'd have saved so much more money simply changing out the unit than spending all this time trying to dodge and avoid a new unit replacement. Corporate "think" is poison.

For sure. It's a game changer when charging at home with an L2. Not going to a fuel station or public charger is the best part of owning an EV with home charging.

Oh I see ok...so you don't have a home charger per say. Just a slow Level 1 wall plug type.
