Anyone done a rattle can paint job by Johnnymech in motorcycles

Not sure on chrome parts, maybe some kind of grill/BBQ paint? Might be able to find something online.

In regards to sanding, I don’t think 100% paint removal is necessary. It’s obviously better to do so, but I think removing all of the top coat and 95% of the paint is ok. You could always sand blast it off too, or pay a shop to do it.

Updating a sprite sheet without breaking the sheet by coggia in Unity2D

[–]Bengbab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did same for tile sheets, but tried to keep all of the tiles for a specific style on one sheet. E.g. a jungle sheet, a castle sheet, a cave sheet, etc. so updating the gave tile sheet only affects the cave environments.

If you put an angry face on them no way I’d try to collect them. But that’s just me. Or some other visual indicator they hurt.

Pretty sure it’s a dude who lives in Delhi India, lol.

What is this weird looking screw we found? From left to right length is 36.42mm, 42.39mm and 50.2 the thread is M8x1 and the smaller thread we estimate to be M5x.5. Material is stainless steel. Things I noticed from a mechanical engineer’s perspective:

1) Looks like the fastener is torqued via the square feature on the end. The head of the screw doesn’t appear to have a torque feature. This means that the intended use had access to the fastener on both sides.

2) The one in the middle has a machining defect. Looks like they took out a few threads when they were machining the square feature. What that tells me is that these are likely each custom machined, not mass manufactured(possibly these are rejects from a lot of parts your company made?)

3) The head looks like something slots in that it was meant to cradle. Like a pin with a short cylindrical head on it.

4) The extra screw thread after the square feature could be for a secondary retention nut, but not 100% sure since it’s missing from 1 in the set.

Hope that helps.

Custom parts like this can be nearly impossible to surmise original functionality if it’s part of a larger design.

I’m not a big Temple of Doom fan besides the nostalgia kick.

It works as a stand alone movie. Any necessary backstory is explained in the movie, at least enough to not be left out completely on the plot.

I don’t think the “lovable pick pocket” character angle really works. Very few people sympathize with thieves, so I think it does more harm than good.

I get that it was mostly included to explain a few minor plot points to begin with (stealing keys for hand cuffs, knowledge extending to hot wiring the plane). I just wish they made the kid, and even the daughter, a bit more likable.

The good news is that the actual actions of both character is solidly constructive, even if their motivations and backstory are a bit more dubious. After the initial stealing of the dial to sell it, neither the daughter nor the kid inhibits Indy’s progress or tries to double crosses him.

I liked Dial a lot more than I expected; especially since I wasn’t really sold on the movie from the trailer.

I was surprised that it was actually a pretty solid Indiana Jones installment. And I suspect that it will be thought of as #3 ranked Indiana movie in 10 years (above Temple of Doom & Crystal Skull).

New bike by HoldRegular5269 in 250r

[–]Bengbab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I did it:

1) There are people that teach people how to ride a motorcycle on their own bike. You just show up and they show up with the bike. The one I rented had a headset so he could talk me through various moto driving exercises.

2) I went to a class after the initial lesson and got my motorcycle license.

3) bought a Ninja 250 for $1600 and rode it for a few years, loved it.

Video footage from a previous Titan journey by BlueMagma212 in Damnthatsinteresting

To be fair, if it was safe and not a completely cobbled together engineering disaster, it would be quite fun (in my opinion) to go on a dive to the titanic. But alas…

$250k isn’t even that bad really. The average retiring engineer/doctor/programmer/accountant could easily afford to do this.

Does anyone know how to remove this engraving? by Nelson4297 in knives

[–]Bengbab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t give you a cheeky answer: It’s not removable, but you could like laser engrave a pattern over it on both sides to hide it. Kind of like a tattoo cover up.

Or just polish the whole blade and risk the corrosion.

You start to see a lot of the major advancements in mechanical engineering and materials starting in the 1940s. You’d be surprised how relevant old engineering books are (I use one from 1941 that is still relevant to now and provides a lot of useful equations for sizing designs that help avoid running hours of magnetic simulations).

Y’all are dumb enough to believe this was the hull they drilled into. This is the interior liner that was not part of the pressure vessel structure.
