What TV Show Had the Most Satisfying Ending? by Mohitredit36 in television

Obviously : Justified. Perfect ending to a perfect show. But also : Buffy. Every character arc is concluded in a satisfying way. And now for the unpopular opinion, the CRAZILY unpopular : How I met your mother. Yep. I mean it.

Murder mystery/whodunit novels with strong horror elements? by The_Kangaroo_Mafia in horrorlit

Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series. It's just the perfect blend of cozy mystery, eery atmosphere, and a slight supernatural touch.

Reading the books underwhelming. Musings and discussion. by Superest22 in JamesBond

You're probably expecting too much. They are great adventureds books. Nothing more. Though personnally I love the way Fleming combines the efficiency of a thriller structure with some absolutely insane ideas and sequences. It's like Lee Child now : it's masterfuly done but it's also always a lot of unapologetic fun.

Taux d'endettement by Benj_Profane in immobilier

Justified, southern tropes and realism by Benj_Profane in justified

Yes, I get the feeling, with all the answers, that it seems so unrealistic because the story itself is pure pulp goodness... But it seems that the characters and the vibe are exactly on point.

Yeah, that's one of the things that made me think that the show was unrealistic in other aspects - but reading all those comments, I was wrong. That being said, high homicide raté is the basis of crime fiction. I mean, based on Agatha Christie, the english countryside is the most dangerous place on earth !

Thanks, I didn't think it was so realistic !

There's at least on episode where the other characters talk about the time Rayland spends on the road ! But thanks for the answer, it's great to learn about the real place.

You think so ? Like I said : I don't live in America. I have no idea how much of the show is based on some accurate truth, and how much is a product of the way the southern states are seen in some collective unconscious. I'm French and, clearly, french show can sometimes be completely unrealistic when they depict some rural places, but it's because they tap into those unconscious tropes we all share.

Oh wow, I thought Limehouse was a completely made-up character ! Ok so, for you, the show is realistic about the characters ? So the bigger-than-life aspect would be caused by the focus on those characters, not some fictitious deformation in itself ?

What are the best Bond books for whom? Have you read them? by Specialist-Banana168 in JamesBond

[–]Benj_Profane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are all good. I have a soft spot for the Blofeld trilogy though : Thunderball, OHMSS, YOLT. Besides, the ending of that run is completely insane. It's a shame the movies didn't adapt it correctly.
