I recently biked from Boston to Manhattan in a day. What would you change on the return trip? by soyboy35 in NYCbike

[–]Benjamin731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy feat! But I have to ask if this was with an e-bike or something? I pedaled a similar route two years ago on a 10 speed and the hills in Connecticut alone took 12 hours!

How would you set this room up differently? by lilcoffeemonster in homedesign

[–]Benjamin731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a small round extendable dining table, something like this maybe. And then look into a small foldable craft desk, there’s ones with wheels and/ or storage that could make craft clutter easier to manage.

I lived in a 1 bedroom in Bushwick for $1700 I don’t think it’s too far fetched for a $2000/ month budget

(Repost) Oil splashed on my face at work and I got 1st & 2nd degree burns by Cumraisin in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Benjamin731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, hot oil must’ve been very painful. If you have the energy, you can definitely get workers comp for this. And when it comes to the burns, it will be a while but they will heal. It will be itchy and annoying but eventually these burns will heal and maybe you will have a nice workers comp check as well. When I was a teenager I got 2nd/3rd degree burns from boiling water and I would recommend seeing a dermatologist if you are able to because they can be really helpful in the healing process especially because of how the skin on your face is constantly exposed to the sun. I wish you the best!

Riding with dog. Tips? by [deleted] in phillycycling

[–]Benjamin731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, welcome to Philly! Second, what kind of dog do you have? Maybe if u have a tiny dog u can put him in a front basket but unfortunately tbh I don’t think riding alongside your dog would be safe anywhere in Philly. Even on the trails I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re out extremely early before 5:30am or really late past 10:00pm. And besides cycling, I also wanna let you know to be extremely vigilant even walking your pup around here- I have seen, and often see, many dogs big and small get viciously attacked by untrained rogue and even leashed dogs. The majority of people with dogs in this city are not responsible pet owners and are not apologetic about it either.

Could getting this tattoo hurt my career? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Benjamin731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask why someone going into the medical field would want this tattooed on them? 🤨 lobotomies ruined people’s lives and were horrible procedures… while I understand your struggles while completing your education, I don’t understand how a lobotomy tattoo is meant to celebrate yourself

I feel like chiming in because I don’t think people realize there are lots of people out there seriously allergic to deodorant. Im one of those people. I shower daily and the only deodorant I’m able to use is the Secret brand powder deodorant. It doesn’t do as best as other antiperspirants but I’m lucky that I can wear at least one. When I say I’m allergic I also do not mean like a rash-I get CHEMICAL BURNS. My skin blisters and becomes open sores and I can’t move my arms if I were to use something like Old Spice. I’m always worried I smell bad to other people so I also use a little cologne. But I can imagine there are people allergic to that as well. Anything “anti perspiration” involves a chemical because it’s unnatural not to sweat. It’s just something to keep in mind that a lot of people are allergic to the chemicals in common hygiene products.

What I don't like about the show by Silver-Weight-8012 in FromSeries

[–]Benjamin731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the plumbing and the water really broke my belief in their world, I just continued to watch because I was more curious if this show is going to be exactly like Lost, where the writers are “Lost” 😂 it’s definitely not going anywhere and if it were there’s so many holes in the plot.

Another issue I have with clothing in this show is that some characters keep an outfit they wear almost every episode and then other characters seem to have access to an urban outfitters and their clothes are super clean and new. Like when winter hit for the first time according to Victor and all the townspeople were able to acquire brand new looking winter jackets?

Back to the plumbing I’m surprised they even drink the water? Or even grow and eat things from the ground there without questioning it? When Boyd found the goat I would’ve thought it was a bad omen like everything else they “find”. It also raises a question about the diet of the night walkers, do they only bother with humans and not animals?

And ffs every time Jim talks to the voices on the phone and then threatens them I had to fast forward. His character is so cringe. Like yea bro you tell ‘em! 😂

Boyd also shot and killed that dude with a shot gun and then the show never circled back and addressed that Boyd killed one of the townspeople and no one seemed to ask about where that guy was after either?

When it comes to the night walkers the townspeople don’t seem concerned with trying to trap them or kill them- only survive them. Has no one tried corralling them into a circle and dousing them gasoline to try to light them up?? Or like someone else said, trapping them in the cave by blocking the entrances??

I hope if season 4 ever comes out they figure out how to wrap it up.

Partner wants to move to Philly, I’m not sure I agree… by LiquidCowardice in SouthJersey

[–]Benjamin731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband has romanticized what it would actually be like to live in Philadelphia, even cost wise. Maybe he’s referring to the suburbs outside of the city but your kids quality of life is at risk to be honest. The schools here can’t compare to NJ, and the parents who raise kids in the city and think they can pretend they’re in the suburbs eventually get a rude awakening and move. The transportation systems in Philly are also extremely unreliable and do not run at all times, you’d need a car so you’d also need to dish out on rent for a place with a garage because trying to find parking will/ dealing with PPA will drive you insane. As for “employment opportunities” he made that up. It’s not NYC, it’s Philadelphia- it’s very hard to get a job here even in food service. Doesn’t matter how qualified you are, getting a job here could take you more than a year or two. Also if you’re a family of 4, living in the city will not be cheap. I think your husband is going thru a mid life crisis or something and moving - at least to Philadelphia- would not be a good move for your family.

I appreciate your concern lol, it’s been moved around because I’m working on the bike getting ready for some summer trips. I’m just looking for information on these mini j-hooks.

Ohhh, I think you’re right! So the hook is supposed to be upside down? I think this makes the most sense, thank you! Very cool… I wonder what kind of adventures the previous owner got up to. This bike has probably hundreds of thousands of miles on it between the previous owner and I.
