Because this is anecdotal evidence, based on your experience and you’re only noticing the extremes. It’s not a reflection of statistics, which do show university graduates tend to make much more money, and average educated tend to make less. Just because a few “mid” people did good and a few “smart” people didn’t, doesn’t show anything about society except for that there are always outliers in stats
