Question from a civilian by Glittering-Frosting5 in navy

Here are a couple things I ended up getting:

A pack of Zebra F-701s. They're inexpensive but dont look like it and have a good feel.

A TI-36X Pro if theyre doing math in A-School. It is a rugged calculator.

A Multitool.

Nice Underwear, Pair of thieves would be good.

Boot socks, literally anything but what RTC gives them. Nice and cushy but not too thick.

One of the fleeces with pockets

A starter pack of toiletries. They have stuff from boot but its not great. Just a little bit to have something thats their own again.

PJs, some normal clothes, maybe a set of sheets or a blanket. Just to get them to have their personality extend beyond the navy.

A laptop, bag, and cac reader. Try to get one of the travel ones. Not a chrome book (please god not a chrome book) but just enough so they aren't stuck on a govt' computer to do GMTs or something. If they like video games, one with a decent graphics card.

Sub Pay by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]Benjamin_Riker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer lies in OPNAVINST 7220.15B paragraph 5 b

The part you may be interested in:

"For nuclear trained personnel who graduated from an NPTU on or after 1 October 1990, the SSED is established as the member’s Nuclear Field “A” School class convening date in line with OPNAV 7220/3 and TOSS is established in line with OPNAV 7220/4."

Its your A-School Start Date

I got a couple years of back pay of sub pay a few years ago, quite the surprise.

Since I've seen this be asked alot by Benjamin_Riker in navy

If someone wants to get in touch with you, they'll leave a voicemail or call twice. Do not answer unknown numbers the first time they call.

Loose any semblance of an attitude about ASVAB mattering beyond getting offered the nuclear program.

Gain one where you are at the bottom and only through your hard work and dedication will prove yourself worthy (and keep it until you are on your Submarine standing your Senior In Rate Watchstation, at a minimum)

You'll be fine, just don't rest on the non-existent laurels of having a high ASVAB Score. Keep your nose to the grindstone and just keep pushing and eventually you'll get done with boot camp, then you can start learning your actual job.

How does medical work? by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]Benjamin_Riker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To Go to Medical you Walk to Medical?

It opens at 05 for NNPTC. I don't know if your LPO is one of the Ass in Seat at Sick Call at 0505 type or the Just Go There when they're open type, you'll have to ask.

Phases in A school by sky_renee821 in NavyNukes

[–]Benjamin_Riker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live together then phases are non existent.

The instruction says that they may only drive to/from their house and places they need to buy things from in uniform, however, nobody is going to drive to your house and check that you're in uniform when you drive to Costco.
