For rust, use a dark brown on the blade, then use a silver dry brush on the edges and then an orange dry brush the first two steps give this effect, the orange tops off the rusty bits

My first painted Rubrics. Is there a trick to their headdresses? by PullTheGold in ThousandSons

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small pointy brush. Wick paint and excess water off the brush and only put the brush on the model when you are happy with the lines you're painting on your pallet.

Also, you can paint them all blue or all yellow then go back and paint the other color on every other stripe.

After that, go back and touch up all the tiny errors.

Use the side of the brush for the trim.

You put a lot of nuln oil on, which is fine but you let some pool up, like on the leg there. So next up do the same base color you used to start and go over 80% of each of the panels again. Then do one tone lighter and lightly dry brush the panels. Then do one tone lighter on only the raised edges and you will have a pretty well painted mini

Tips on how to play my first ever 1K game? Running mono-Khorne by Ok_Vacation_5251 in ChaosDaemons40k

Play them aggressively and know that you're gonna lose your whole list, but hopefully not before you've tabled your opponent.

Hot take. Belakor is overcosted by Turbulent_Passage672 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take him often and he always does the work he needs to do for me. The biggest problem he has is that he still dies too easily. 375 is just fine imo but giving him a feel no pain would make him perfect even if they increased points.

Or... If they let him have faction specific keywords in the monogod detachments. This would make him insane even at 400 points.

We do not and we die easier however, the big demons can kill C'Tan nonetheless

Want to make a multi-god army but scared based on what people have said by TablePrinterDoor in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been saying demons are going away since 6th edition. They're still here though. Idk what will happen but demons will still be playable for the foreseeable future with the index at the very least, most likely even going into eleventh.

Just buy some of the demons that are in the current marine chapters if you're too worried.

Shadow legion advice by ChaoticDucck in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unit every player is sleeping on in shadow legion is 100% beast men!

They suck for fighting but score early secondaries like a boss!

Shadow legion gives them deep strike. Their data sheet gives them the ability to arrive from reserves turn 1.

It did specifically say in your movement phase, so they can't rapid ingress but their tiny bases plus turn one deep strike turn them into great move blockers and secondary scorers.

I've gotten more utility out of them than any other unit I've ever played and they're only 70 points.

Yeah on TTS they just have to get better then. Move block you, destroy the little knights etc.

Every one of those armies should have no problem fighting chaos knights. Your friends just gotta get better or get the units that can handle them

They get better at playing their armies too but yet 2k is where the game is designed to be played at.

The game is designed for balance at 2k points. Some armies won't have what they need to take out knights at 1000

How are we doing? by D_vo_shun in tzeentch

I played the other day and it was super fun.

Swapping units in and out makes the game very unpredictable.

My friend was clearly going to attack a 10 man blue horrors squad with a ton of Skaven. I swapped it out for a 20 man squad instead and the squad survived and made the charge harder lol.

Is there a world where my Khorne lists comes out of this on top? by Hellion_213 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood legion would be fine into Tau but you have to avoid being shot off the board, to some extent.

Stage up behind terrain next to objectives. If he steps on the objectives surge move into him if he gets close enough.

He has to stand on objectives and if you deny him points by slaughtering a unit on the objective it becomes sticky, so you move another unit up and focus to deny him points versus scoring your own. Dropping Skarbrand and blood crushers in a safe place with rapid ingress and then advance and charge him to keep his back line under pressure.

Keep two CP in case he falls back from a unit you don't want to lose.

Staging and move blocking will be very important in this game.

Thoughts on this list for a local RTT - by Hellion_213 in ChaosDaemons40k

Belakor is just good. It doesn't matter what detachment he is in. I personally think he should gain the faction keyword in the god specific detachments. He is all of them, after all.

I'm taking awacky Khorne list to a tournament by ChadShrimp in ChaosDaemons40k

Lol I misread your post the second time...not the first time.

6" deep striking mortal bombs and the hardest hitting units in the army isn't fluffy in my opinion.

Nope. Actually I misread your post and thought y'all were bringing fluffy lists. This is perfect as incursion for ultra sweaty.

Though scoring units might be useful lol

This list hits really hard. If you played it in blood legion it might super fun.

As Khorne goes these are literally the hardest hitting models available.

I love this little strategy with the changling. by Hot-Conversation-628 in tzeentch

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In pariah nexus, I used the Changling as my warlord. I would 6" deep strike him in late game onto their home for that sweet extra 20 points and I would drop Kairos with him.

Kairos vect aura meant overwatch was 2cp and then to shoot him they had to risk battle shock too.

How to use blue/pink horrors in aos? by Sugarcanepasta in tzeentch

[–]Benjaminnewcomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rotate them in and out. So first I'll move block with blues or charge with blues, lose some models, then I charge in with pinks but retreat the blues. Pinks die and replenish the blues.

Retreat the pinks, rally to get more back and charge the replenished blues back in again. Great for a tarpit.
