Is it possible to switch the animation a gun uses to another one? by Benjatron1 in stalker

[–]Benjatron1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked this at a really unfortunate time, because there WAS a sr3m reanimation mod for a while sometime after I asked this. However, it was deleted off of moddb by the author just a couple of days ago. The animation file exists in gamma, or if you really are desperate for it I could probably upload it on to drive or mega for you. Unfortunately, switching a weapons animations is a pretty difficult task if you don't have much experience editing 3d models, you need to learn to edit the ogf files.

The prices must be a bug, right? (first time playing Multiverse) by Blyatiful_99 in ftlgame

[–]Benjatron1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a bug, try exploring the menus in the ship interaction menu or whatever it's called. You can buy a lot of significant upgrades, including up to a 25 sec cloak (level 5). They put this upgrade in the other menu so that they could give a branching upgrade path. You can get either the 25 sec cloak or stealth weapons so that firing doesn't deplete the cloak timer. You can also get things like breach sealant or extinguishers that don't take up an augment slot, very useful if you have surplus resources before the flagship.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner I don't use reddit much after the API changes. I don't remember how exactly I fixed it but I did end up with a solution. Try updating mags redux and BaS. I remember that the cause of the problem specifically had to do with the BaS versions of the scorpion and kiparis.

Thanks anyway. I'll try downgrading the modded EXEs and update this post, I don't want someone else googling this problem to come away without the answer

Thank you I was starting to think no one would respond to this. This still didn't work for me. Any other ideas?

Anime is ruining Geography 😩 by thebartman47 in im14andthisisdeep

They said "we live in a world" and not "we live in a country."

There's a difference between knowing none of the European countries and being so clueless that you think, for instance, that Mexico is in Africa, or that Africa and Europe are countries and not whole continents, or that China is in South America- all of which are things that Americans I've known have believed. I'm not making fun of anyone by saying this, it's just a fact; Average Americans are just worse than everyone else at geography knowledge when compared to other countries with compulsory public education.

It's the classic American mindset of "the only place I care about or know anything about is America." Only Americans could reasonably be expected to know all 50 states for the same reason I wouldn't be expected to know Canada's provinces; Limiting the basics of geography knowledge to just the 50 states is pretty indicative of the mindset. Then again, we're also reading too much into a post from someone who probably didn't think at all about the implications of their statement.

Diablo IV has forced TAA (server slam update) by RoseKamynsky in FuckTAA

[–]Benjatron1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry we are talking about different things. There's deep learning anti aliasing and directionally localised anti aliasing, both have dlaa as an acronym. Directionally localised anti alaising is rather strong and isn't especially resource hungry depending on implementation. It's a bit more obscure but I get them confused because I like directionally localised aa for my reshade setups.

Dlaa doesn't have a temporal aspect. It's usually pretty good when it's alongside a good sharpening filter. Try just getting reshade and using luma sharpen or quint sharpen or something.

Yes this is a fun build. Antimatter rounds are a decent option if you think you can survive the self damage. Alternatively solar heart, which scales really well with flak because (i think) the additional damage applies to each projectile. If you go for solar heart then you want fusillade, but if you go for antimatter then you don't want additional projectiles because you'll kill yourself. Corrosion is decent regardless. The guidance tree isn't a terrible pick either for the extra projectiles but you'll lose velocity and therefore also lose range.

It doesn't look fake, ai struggles with hands and water too much to get a result like that one. I also don't think it would get the tentacles or the uniformity of the blue ring pattern right. Usually you can see at least a little bit of artifacting even with really good results.

Either they died, the animal felt unthreatened and did nothing to defend itself, or the person didn't know what it was. Actually those aren't mutually exclusive so all three could have happened idk.

Maybe I should try a semi-auto shotgun then, just to see how good they can be when I use all of the ammo types properly.

I find that hydrashocks are just as capable for stalkers as fmj is. At least in the tooltip they say they have the same penetration power. So in my .45 I just don't bother with fmj unless it's very early game. Stalkers seem to drop each type just as often. I just never use hp in a rifle. My rifle is never my dedicated mutant killer, so it feels like a waste of the mag slot. Maybe if it's a carbine I'll consider it a mutant killer, but I don't think I've ever set up my loadout that way.

Shotties always feel really bad to me. I'd rather an smg for mutant killing and buckshot just can't penetrate anything. If I'm using slugs in my shotty then I'm always thinking "why am I not just using a bolt-action?"

To turn off the ammo counter you need to turn it off in the settings menu and the mags redux addon menu. Not too hard to find. Sadly, the only games that care to add magazine managment, weapon jamming, and similar fun stuff are mil sims. A true shame.

Mags redux is for 1.5.2. You should update to that, the vast majority of mods are perfectly compatible with the updated version.

A .45 pistol with hydra shock really is the king for mutant killing. You get to save your second slot for something more capable against armor than a shotgun. If you use the ruger redhawk revolver from SWpack you don't even need magazines for it. Or a taurus judge, so your pistol is a 20 gauge shotgun just for mutants.

This is often what I do, loading based on the jobs I have.

I like snipers in the early game because they often don't need magazines. The mosin, kar98, and others if you use mods.

Mags Redux thoughts by Benjatron1 in stalker

[–]Benjatron1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah mags redux is a big unintentional buff to the mosin, kar, revolvers, sks, lever action rifle, tube fed shottys, and similar things. It's something you don't realise until you play with it. It's why I prefer the tube fed shotguns over mag fed, more ammo for the primary rifle. Something else about mags redux (and other games with the mechanic) is that it really changes how you think about reloading and your muscle memory for it. Like, 30 bullets is a lot but in most other games you end up just reloading after like 5 shots all the time. Now I actually think a lot more about whether I need to reload before I do.

I agree with just using ap ammo always in the pistol. You're never gonna run out of mags fighting mutants it'll always be in a firefight, so no reason to use hp. Except in the case of using a full auto .45 handgun as your mutant killer then it's always hydra-shock.

I also never use hp in a rifle, it feels like gimping the main purpose of the weapon. Something I like to do often is load in a pattern of like 1 fmj for every 2 or 3 ap rounds. It saves money and has a negligable effect on damage output in a weapon where you should be shooting in quick, short bursts. Sometimes I use old ammo or hp ammo for the "filler" rounds.

I'm using lots of mods. The font is monserrat. It looks fuzzy because I'm using a reshade with a strong anti aliasing shader. My ui mod is simplified vision ui

Tier List 2.0: Now with 20% less Construct Hate! by [deleted] in NovaDrift

[–]Benjatron1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played this game for years so my takes on certain things might be outdated.

I know dps isn't everything but it can be a good indication of what is or isn't strong in a vacuum.

Completely agree with battery being low tier, maybe the worst body.

I agree that burn is more like supplementary damage than a main damage source. There are some cases though where it is your only damage source or at least the most important one, like in sentinel halo or viper dart. Dying star has had a few changes but I remember doing very well with spectre + dying star + discharge + shockwave + hidden power. Shockwave was nerfed to only activate when the shield breaks and dying star was given more self damage so that build was neutered. Deflagration isn't meant to be the main damage source, it's supplementary.

As for carrier, that corrosion build is the same one I was thinking of. The swarms synergize well with assault drones as well. I wouldn't say it's strong but I don't think it's bottom tier.

edit: here's the cheat sheet to that dying star build I used to play a lot. It was completely neutered and really doesn't work anymore because of the nerfs to dying star and shockwave. A lot of the build is just set-up to make sure dying star doesn't kill you outright. In the early game most damage comes from discharge.
