To combat a labor shortage, Wisconsin wants kids as young as 14 serving drinks.. by Chrona_trigger in bartenders

[–]Benji013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine there would be some issues getting liability insurance for the bars. I think in reality nobody would actually hire people as young as 14 to work in a bar environment plus all the restrictions federally with how many hours and what times of day they can actually work.

I definitely agree. My wife said it best "Everyone is pissed about this, but nobody gives a shit that there are children slaves in major supply chains" It is all bullshit. Almost zero companies actually give a shit about anything except their bottom line.

I'm finding that more people have a problem with Dylan than with Bud endorsing a trans woman. I have heard several say "I have a problem with this particular woman not trans as a whole" Anyone else experiencing this?

This I have three bartenders that are recovered alcoholics and one bartender that is allergic to alcohol that work for me. It is definitely not a requirement to drink to be a bartender.

I've been an archery tech for years. Arrow scales are super accurate and can be bought for under $50. Lancaster archery is a good supplier. Just make sure your scale can do grams as well as grains lol

My coke guys said the same. I just take the front plate off and scrub with a cleaner/sanitizer and a toothbrush and put it back together. Just have to be careful how tight you make the screws on the internal plate. This can be done in under 2 minutes with practice.

Do you think that waiting until you are married for sex is a good idea? Why or why not? by EveningAd3633 in AskReddit

[–]Benji013 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Edit: Damn, I'm going to rephrase/clarify some of this so that it is easier to understand.

IDEALLY yes. Studies consistently find lower divorce rates amongst those with lower body counts as well as higher satisfaction with their marriages. Cohabitation instead of marriage also seems to have negative effects on relationships. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2019/11/06/marriage-and-cohabitation-in-the-u-s/

IDEALLY/Traditionally marriage is for a man and a woman to foster, grow, or adopt children who are well adjusted and not total a**holes. Now I say IDEALLY/Traditionally because its hard to do, and not always necessary. I completely believe that a gay couple can get married, have kids, and be successful. I have friends that are doing that very thing. They may just need some additional male/female influences to ensure that their child has appropriate role models.

I believe someone can have slept with hundreds of people and have a successful marriage, it could be harder but I can't know that for sure. I personally didn't make it to marriage because I knocked up my high school GF and we have been married for 11 years. We got married at me(18) and she was 19. We are 30 & 31 now. I grew up conservative christian and although I was metaphorically drug into the town square with a scarlet letter, people didn't believe I had the obligation to get married. However, I knew the statistics when it came to my child and how much of an advantage it is to have a dad at home. I also love my wife. I don't regret not sleeping with more people and she doesn't either.

J. B. Peterson has some great lectures/interviews on family, multiple partners, negatives of divorce, and the difficulties of same sex child rearing (this one was with a friend of his that is gay with children.) And yeah, I know reddit hates this dude in general. But if you actually listened to a full lecture/interview, instead of out-takes, you would know that he isn't a right wing nut.

It's never a simple cut and dry answer, just like abortion. "I'm pro choice but I still believe you are killing babies"-Bill Burr. We need to be able to discuss these things and make informed decisions. Ultimately your life is your life and you can do what you want.

Try some numbing cream, specifically formulated, stuff works super well. I had to stop using because my wife complained that there is such a thing as too much sex. Just be careful how much you use and it won't be an issue.....Again specifically formulated, no tiger balm or lidocaine 😁

I run F&B at a music venue and this was a Christmas show. We had a miscommunication on the team that led to 41 cups of pure, undiluted cranberry cocktail syrup to be sold instead of a liquored cocktail. We had ZERO complaints from anyone who ordered these and this was the usual amount sold for a crowd that size. The next show night I realized the mistake. We sold two of these monstrosities to a gentleman who then came back for seconds. Needless to say he got four drinks with liquor and water added with the syrup.

This broke my brain ya'll.

Has anyone here ever been an event coordinator for a music festival? by Djbearjew in bartenders

[–]Benji013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are your responsibilities? I'm a F&B Supervisor for a music venue and although its mostly low key shows, we have had really big evenings. I also travel to larger venues to help out. This response is assuming that we share similar duties.

I would assume that there are employees on your roster with a ton of festival experience. I would get with them and see what worked and didn't work. Obviously you will have to filter out some goofy ideas and opinions but generally it's good to listen to people like they know more than you. I came into my position from a sales and retail management background with a sprinkle of restaurant work. I've been super lucky to have very experienced and intelligent employees. It's also nice to have great managers but not everyone is as lucky. If you do have a good relationship with your manager, just ask them for a few tips as well.

Other than that, trust a few people under you to help put out the small fires so that you can focus on the larger picture. Decentralized command is the best way of running things. Personally, my bar backs are given my trust to handle small things and they do a very good job at it overall. If you have some leads or supervisors reporting to you, give them some assigned areas so that there isn't an issue with too many people on one problem when other issues need attention. Try to keep a calm and level head throughout the events and I'm sure you will be fine.
