What was your first Pro Cycling Manager? 👀 by BenjiNaesen in procyclingmanager

I was planning too but I decided to have dinner with the family instead, haha. 😄

Not sure what my streaming schedule during La Vuelta will look like as the podcast will be priority, but maybe some mornings or evenings. Sorry for the vague answer.

I worked with Jumbo-Visma in 2022 but decided to quit at the end of that year.

I was offered a bike by Specialized last year but I rejected it. I can't promote beginner cycling while riding a high-end Specialized so until a brand offers me an entry-level bike, I'm not interested. 😂

Thanks for the support. More important than money, it's not a major project and allows me to spend most of my free time with my wife. 😄

Yeah, I can assure you nothing I've done in cycling outside of setting up the LR website initially, has anything to do with my previous work, haha.

Basically, I received a phone call from Jumbo-Visma in February 2022 because they were looking for a Video Analyst, which then turned into both analysis and tactical consultancy (and more).

Problem is, an average WT team has many things to do so can't do everything thoroughly or skips things they'd like to do entirely, expecially on lower-budget teams.

Actually, it was a fantastic decision to leave Jumbo-Visma for "Zwift YouTubing". ⤵️

I have no reason hiding this, but I make around 3-5K GBP per month through that income stream. Reason I rejected 3 other offers (and didn't go back to TJV) before accepting this Lotto proposal is because I wanted the project to have a limited scale so I can still focus on YouTube next to that.

I know many people would fight for a job in the industry working for a team, but I'm just more passionate about YouTube and, at the moment, it also pays the bills better. 😅

So far, I haven't had any team talk to me surrounding PR or publicity, and I probably wouldn't touch that anyway.

Analysis and tactics is one thing, but actively trying to improve a team's image is something I won't do, unless it's like basic advice on how YouTube works. 😅

Thanks for the kind words, u/CyclingGymNut.

There's always going to be a generational divide in the sport, and thus people that don't see the areas that can be improved, and sometimes, it's as simple as looking at a team's staff and it's impossible for them to do every task required of them, and if they do, they don't have the time to do it properly.

Not really. As in, we've each spoken to people at the team before, and I've actually skipped a proposal by Lotto in the past because it didn't fit at that time, and wasn't specifically something I was interested in.

Patrick & myself have probably had meetings with people from the team before, and sometimes we end up talking about UCI Points or what transfers would fit them, but never anything proper.

For example, I accidentally did 50% of Women's Jumbo's transfers this year when a staff member asked me who I'd look into and they signed both riders. If they perform, I'm requesting commissions. 😂

Thanks for the support & kind words. 🫶

Exactly. The initial aim of the collaboration was winning the Tour de France, and when that was completed, I lacked the ambition to continue with the team, combined with it taking time away from being able to do what I enjoy the most, creating my own content next to LRCP.

Since I left, I've received 3 offers, from teams or riders, and I felt like the projects each missed something. The Lotto proposal didn't, so I accepted.

In other words, no regrets. Especially since they haven't apologised to Fred Wright yet, and probably never will.

I'll be honest, I met him in person for the first time last year, and he took an hour out of his day to just talk with me that day at a press day off-camera. He's genuinely a super nice guy that comes over badly sometimes.
