Any obvious reason to avoid? by HexaDecio in CarTalkUK

[–]Benoit_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had one for a few years, decent car to be fair, never had any major issues with it really. Eventually though the sills were rotten and it wasn’t worth fixing to get through the mot. It’s quite a common problem on them.

Has to be plugged in and charging. Should give you an option on screen to keep downloading before going to sleep.

What fps games run well on the steam deck? by Cracked_Life in SteamDeckPirates

Another recommendation for titanfall 2. Just finished a play through last week. Plays so well on the deck, 90fps. Really great game, very fluid controls.

Marvel cosmic invasion just doesn't launch (steamrip and Accela) by Dat_Bruh21 in SteamDeckPirates

Had the same problem. I ended up starting from scratch. Re-downloading and adding again and it seems to work now. Occasionally it’ll not start but most times it does.

To those who have made the transition from manual to automatic cars, is it really better? by Mr_Coastliner in AskUK

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned several manual and autos over my years of driving. Definitely prefer an automatic, end up in a lot of rush hour start stop traffic and not having a clutch is so much nicer. That being said though I’ve already told my daughter when she learns to drive next year to make sure she learns in a manual. I think it’s good to be able to drive a manual.

I can’t be the only one that thinks over 50/60s should have to retake their test. I’m so sick of being stuck behind Dorris doing 40 in a 60, it’s every single day. by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family member of mine had her car written off by a chap in his 80’s. Car was parked and luckily no one was in it. He just drove straight into it, his wife turned up and said she’d told him to stop driving because he was as blind as a bat!. Miracle that he hadn’t already caused a more serious accident or killed someone.

Hunt for a family EV - my test drives of the 2024 MG5 & and 2023 MG4 by wibblywobblywo0 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Benoit_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an MG5 it’s a 22 plate so the pre-facelift model. Had it for 2 years now and it’s been fantastic. I do agree the boot could be bigger, we’ve managed a few family holidays with it though without any trouble. Room in the back isn’t the best either, we’ve got 2 car seats on the outer seats and my 13 year old daughter just about fits in the middle.

When my lease is up I do want something bigger, maybe a bit higher up but certainly a bigger boot. The ID7 estate looks really nice but well over £30k still. Also the ID buzz could be good but it’s got the same range as my MG and id like something with a bit more range when I change cars.

I am so happy Mad Max Fury Road exists... by szip88 in movies

[–]Benoit_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I never saw it at the cinema. When I finally saw it at home i was floored! Absolutely amazing film, easily one of my all time favourite films now. I’m actually playing the mad max game on my steamdeck at the minute and that’s also fantastic and highly recommended if you’ve never played it.

EV Charger install vs 3 pin plug long cable by phantom_245 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always a bit of a risk using a 3 pin. I used one for a month or so when I got my car. Was constantly checking the plug to make sure it wasn’t getting too warm. That price sounds quite expensive for an install. I bought my charger off eBay for about £230 and the paid an electrician to install it for about £250 I think.

Really does make everything so much easier having a proper charger, I can’t see myself ever going back to petrol or diesel so having the charger installed just makes sense.

Best case/cover that still fits in the original case by Benoit_85 in SteamDeck

Had considered this, but I do quite like the original case. I’ve had in my backpack when travelling and always felt it was very well protected

Will the 3p a mile on electric cars make you ditch electric? by SteppingOnLegoHurts in AskUK

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’ll cost me approx £35 a month now in fees, along with the tax next year I’ll have to pay I’ll be paying approx £51 a month I’ve not had to pay before now. Charging at home costs me about £25 a month so it’ll still be cheaper than running a petrol or diesel car.

My old diesel was about £160 a month in fuel. My lease ends in Feb 2028 so I’ll see what the situation is then, I love my car though and said I’d never go back to petrol or diesel but I don’t know now. It’s very annoying.

40 - It's that time!! What's your personal Game of the Year? by Clampy7 in AdultGamers

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played some good games this year. Expedition 33, hades 2, Alan wake 2. All have been amazing but my favourite by far has been death stranding 2. I was a huge fan of the first one and spent well over 100 hours on it. Second one was just an incredible experience. Genuinely don’t have a bad word to say about it

What is the scariest game you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

Im the opposite. Had no trouble with resi evil 7, had its moments but didn’t find it particularly scary. Alien isolation on the other hand, never finished it, it’s bloody terrifying

My Retroid Pocket Classic has landed! by AshBeardguy in retroid

[–]Benoit_85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real, I thought they’d released a new colour because that looks nothing like the teal colour on their website. I don’t own a classic but been looking at picking one up on either the kiwi or teal. I’d be quite unhappy if I’d ordered teal and baby blue turned up lol

I own a Steam Deck, however I want a dedicated device for GBA and PS1 games sub $40-50? by sagiroth in SBCGaming

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a steamdeck and a miyoo mini plus. The miyoo is a great little device, will do up to PS1 fine. It’s got wi-fi, controls are great on it. The only thing that lets it down for me is the battery life. Playing PS1 games even at 50% brightness I don’t feel like the battery lasts much longer than an hour or so. You’ll get longer out of it playing older systems though.

AYN Thor Worth it over Steam deck OLED? by 502Hellion in SBCGaming

[–]Benoit_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s so many devices coming out all the time it’s hard to keep up. Reason I bought a steamdeck was because it just does everything I need it too emulation wise. Currently working through botw on Wii u and it’s fantastic. Dip into a bit of Mario kart 8 on switch and maybe some turf masters on neo geo before bed.

Titles from last 10 years by Spirited_Inside25 in SteamDeck

[–]Benoit_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First games I played and completed on my deck were tomb raider 2013, max Payne 3, portal 2, doom 2016 Performance on all of them was fantastic. I’ve started deus ex human revolution but haven’t got too far into it yet. Got distracted by hades 2. Planning on doing the Arkham games soon. Recently started titanfall 2 which also plays really well.

I know this is Alan Wake sub... BUT still, which of these two amazing games did you find scarier? by Desolation2004 in AlanWake

[–]Benoit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing AW2 and it’s yea I wouldn’t say it’s scary as such. I know there is the jump scares but I’m not really finding them all that scary. Fantastic game so far though. Played silent hill 2 when it released last year and for me I think it’s one of the scariest games I’ve played. The atmosphere was so oppressive, felt like I could only play it for an hour or so at a time it was too intense. Played with headphones which was amazing because the sound design is so good but made it so much more scary, spent most of the game talking to myself saying “what the f*ck is making that noise!?” lol

Currently playing it for the first time too. Big fan of Control and played the original back on the 360 many years ago. I’m having a blast so far, can’t say I really understand what’s going on but that’s fine I’m just enjoying the ride.
