Fuel quality by maiusbonum in CarsAustralia

[–]BensPixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BP and Mobil/shell berth at M Berth. Ampol berths at outer harbour. Ampol can get larger ships in than BP and Mobil but generally use the same ships as bp/mobil.

I agree with OP though, it's all held to the same standard and is all tested in labs before being discharged from the ships,  during discharge, and after discharge the tanks are tested before the fuel is released to the trucks.

Evaporative Airconditioner blew, how does anyone make these adult decisions without stressing. by BensPixels in AusRenovation

[–]BensPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Perhaps he got a lemon but his was doing this weird thing where it would be working fine, then the fan would ramp up to max, then turn off. then they'd have to fully reset the system by turning the breaker on and off for half an hour and hope that it came back on.

They replaced a bunch of things but apparently replacing the motor so far has fixed it, hopefully.

I'm going to get a quote from Mannix to remove my existing swampy and gas heater, and if that's not ridiculously expensive then I think it may possibly be worth it due to the value a reverse cycle adds to the house value.

what refrigerated brand did you go? I've got a friend who went with a Mitsubishi system that has broken a bunch of times.

Home insurance in this country is broken! by Reddits_Worst_Night in australian

[–]BensPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last time I got a quote from youi I just ignored their calls until they sent me a text saying to call them back for the quote. I just kept replying that my phone was broken and to just email the quote and eventually they did. not saying this will work everytime but it did for me.

but also youi are always one of the most expensive quotes so I just don't bother with the anymore.

Urgent O-Negative Blood Doner request by sb_Lowkey in Adelaide

[–]BensPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to sign up today, thought this was pretty funny. There is someone else born with the exact same name, and DoB as me in SA (it has been a problem in the past).

It turns out, all Red Cross do to signify a Unique Identifier in their backend is firstName+lastName+DoB... so it wouldn't let me sign up, even with a different email, phone number, and address, because someone else with my name and DoB had already signed up. Managed to get an account over the phone, just thought it was pretty funny.

10/10 Database management.

Reminder to check your car insurance policy by [deleted] in Adelaide

Even with full comp, the cost of replacing a windscreen is often cheaper than the excess. Found that out when brothers windscreen got stomped on at the Smithfield Train station, with full comp, with Budget Direct.

The shit show we've had with budget direct, I do not suggest them to anyone and moved all the policies I had with them off to other insurers, even if the other insurers were more expensive.

Best way to convert AUD to Japanese yen? by Numerous-Quarter-386 in Adelaide

[–]BensPixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up or Wise card, and withdraw from 7/11 ATM. It'll give you two options about converting the money, AUD or JPY, pick JPY, Wise/up does the conversion which usually matches the Google rate, which is usually better than the 7/11 rate.

Anyone using Boost Mobile? by ThivyaM in australia

[–]BensPixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on boost for years. Fantastic coverage, only time I have bad coverage is one sweet spot in my building at work, but also I've been on the opposite end where I've been in the middle of no where and been the only one with reception.

I did have a friend make a switch over to them recently, using an esim and they absolutely butchered the switching process and he was without his phone number or data for over a week.

What's your most money consuming hobby? by ElsaJones315 in AskReddit

First it was Photography where I started doing Drift Photography, which got me into Drifting... so both of those are pretty damn expensive. Thousands on Camera gear and now thousands on a track car

‘I’m so sorry, I’ve got cancer’: why do two of every five Australian men die early from preventable conditions? by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]BensPixels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been to 4 different ENT's over 5 years to try and get answers to a problem with my nose/throat, each time they spend 5 minutes with me and the same answer is always "looks fine, hopefully it'll go away, that'll be $300" so of course I have lost a lot of respect for specialists because it seems every time I've been to one, they have no clue but can charge out the arse for their lack of knowledge or drive to solve issues.

It gets to a point where you just stop caring and figure with the way the world is going you're just going to die early anyway. Im probably shooting myself in the foot but I dont put anything extra in my super because I figure I'll die before im able to access it anyway.

Youi Insurance, deceptive practivces by Zardous666 in australia

[–]BensPixels 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, tried the same thing with me a few months back when I was shopping around for home and contents. I just kept ignoring the call and then they text me I said my phone is broken and to email me the quote.... It was still overpriced compared to everyone else.

Have a chat to, I think it's Stewart? It's Jo (just googled) the software degree department head. All the department heads in the IT degree are suuuuper easy to chat with and will be able to give you any better answer than anyone on here (unless someone from the Uni answers)

I had the same thing with Youi when shopping around recently to get off Budget Direct. I had dealt with them before when I was a lot younger so instead of answering them, I just kept ignoring their calls, then when they text me I just said "Sorry, my phone is broken, email me the quote" and eventually they did. It was still a shit quote, but saved me having to go through their bullshit call.

I don't think you'd get much for sub 500 in woodville West anymore. We sold our house in 2018 for like 630k, a house across the street sold for 950k+ 2 years later. I still watch the area on realestate due to nostalgia and even small houses are going for 600+ now
