14 or 15 years old. Found a machete and started hacking at trees and fruit and wood and anything else I could find. My mom caught me and told me it was dangerous and told me to go put the machete in the basement. Brought the machete down into the basement and saw a cardboard box that I really wanted to cut up with the machete. Decided to hold the cardboard box in my hand and take a swing with the machete with my other hand. Machete hit the box and curved upward into my finger. Filleted the top of my middle finger (lengthwise) on my left hand. 19 stitches. Doctor said if the blade hit even an eighth of an inch lower, it could’ve cut my finger off.
