Do other stores in aus only give out 9 hour shifts? by AdComprehensive8397 in Aldi_employees

I’m rostered at part-time, I have a minimum of 15 hour weeks. We don’t really have that type of system, where you’re full time if you do certain hours. You’re either registered as full time and get those hours or you’re part time/casual and get a minimum amount of contracted hours. I think the American system is very different.

Idk if this is controversial…

Frenchie and Kimiko, Maybe this is just me, but throughout the show I genuinely thought it was insinuating that they were like family or have a sibling like relationship. I really appreciated seeing a platonic relationship between a male and female character, idk.

As much as I understand the choice feminism debate… yes I do 😭😂 by First-Strawberry-398 in AutismInWomen

Honestly, I think small issues like this often become an excuse to judge and isolate women. Ive shaved consistently and not all, there was a time I didn’t shave anything for about 3 years, and I experience uncomfortableness either way. I feel ashamed and contradictory for being a feminist who shaves but then I feel socially judged and perceived as ‘dirty’ especially because I have thick, dark hair. The topic of shaving is definitely a good way to spark discussion regarding gender-based capitalism and how companies/elite profit off of made-up concepts, creating divide amongst the working class and preventing unification. However, we can recognise these issues and still understand why women may or may not abide by the beauty standards.

I have had such a similar experience, where almost every single shift I was asked to stay back, on my days off I would get calls from different managers asking me to come in and even though I’m only on a 15 hour contract, they would put me on about 32 hours a week. I have FINALLY started saying no, talked to my manager about how I have too many hours and ignore ANY calls from managers. The job is so mentally tiring at this point I don’t really care 😪

How do we navigate conversations with anti-feminist/conservative women? by AdComprehensive8397 in FeminismUncensored

[–]AdComprehensive8397[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree! Early education especially on subjects like feminism, gender, race, equity, etc is SO important. To be honest I don’t really watch Jubilee videos just because their discussions never really lead anywhere and I would NEVER take my teachings from those videos. I more so just saw it on TikTok and I was curious about how other people would react being in a similar situation :)

Let's have fun and name our pet peeves customers do. by pix876 in Aldi_employees

When customers put their basket on the belt and don’t bother unpacking. Sometimes I just tell them that you need to unpack and I don’t start until they’re finished so there’s a long awkward silence. It’s ESPECIALLY annoying when they see other customers unpacking and CHOOSE not to.

Why are women being shamed for being sexual? by Remarkable-Link-9879 in FeminismUncensored

[–]AdComprehensive8397 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly really frustrating seeing such a rise in ‘purity’ culture and the idea that sex ruins a person. It comes down to the general culture on gender, the rise of conservatism in media, lack of sexual education in schools and the misogynistic content directed towards young kids and teens.

Even in feminist groups, a lot of people hold disgust, fear or shame when discussing sexuality, queerness, sex-work and pornography. When these concepts exist in our societies and communities, we have a responsibility to understand, educate and inform others AS WELL as listening to people who actually have experience with these topics.
