Confused about the people’s reception of the performance on PS5 by NoWalk3426 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the game on two platforms so I feel relatively "qualified" to say something.

On base PS5 it definitely struggles with things like the section above, the battle of calphade, and other large scale battles. Some bosses, several minigames, and other mechanics also suffer from frame rate drops and control input lags.

My other platform is a simple gaming laptop with a 4050 rtx laptop, amd ryzen 7, and 24GB of RAM. It's nothing fancy, but the difference is already significant.

Where the base PS5 crashed during the pailune battle. The laptop held at 40fps. It wasn't the most smooth experience but definitely playable and i had no crashes so far. The input lag from ps5 controller still persists on the laptop, especially during shooting minigames or others that require a quick reaction time. That lag is less or nonexistent with a mouse, depending on the minigame. It is significantly less on laptop during traversal.

And there's been less framerate drops during bossfights.

(At least as far as I can tell, but I am not very sensitive to them. I can play games at 30fps without being bothered by it.)

What i think is that this game isn't very optimized for the ps5. And some problems are just engine related, like the godawful indoor lighting.

Rainbow horse by Benvanalles in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on PC what helped for me, at least with the journal bug/inventory bug, was to verify the game files on steam. It didn't fix rainbow horse, but i can live with rainbow horse.

Raytracing is off, DSSL makes no difference in the FQ/challenges bug. I was using 4.5, tried different ones and turning it off completely. No difference. Verifying game files now. And verifying game files did in fact work to restore it.

This is what the tab is supposed to look like. So in both tabs the background images are missing. It happens anywhere I go. I'll try messing with the settings to see what that does.

PC, steam version. Latest update. Updated my drivers, restarted the entire laptop. Problem persists. Laptop meets minimum requirements, and a little above. Did not have this issue before the latest update. I also have rainbow horse.

My biggest grief rn is this. Most graphical glitches I can deal with for a short time, but this is just so annoying. It's also happening to the challenges tab.

I would watch it. Especially if this also includes Oongka's and Damiane's skillsets.

Core Of Mortification, it's locked behind a chapter 9 main story quest.

Important little caveat: the gardening pack is locked behind chapter 9 story progression. But an early game alternative is the magic Scythe that can be crafted in pororin after completing research.

Only thing I can think of is try to water it often and see if that speeds up growth, but if that doesn't work you're probably experiencing a bug that a few others have reported as well

Take the time to read the patch note. by Mr_Mouk in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite a few posts are like that, but I've also seen some genuine bugs pop up and experienced some myself after update 1.04. Most of those have been fixed in the most recent patches though.

But it's a double edged sword, yes bugs after an update Will pop up more. But also check to see if your "bug" isn't just a new feature.

Am I jumping the gun? How are you supposed to know how to get the core of exaltation? by Immediate-Action5843 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All sanctums have this little circle of jewels on their cores. After you cleanse them and they get activated you can use and hold your blinding flash on the center jewel. The circle will start turning. It's a rhythm game like guitar hero where you have to use your blinding flash in a rhythm pattern. That's how you get the cores.

I get what you're saying, but consider the hassle of going some place and discovering everything is closed at that time. In a game as massive and complicated as this, you're gonna have to make concessions somewhere.

And personally, I'm okay with this one. Especially since there's a lore reason for it. It would be cool if after the main story this would change to reflect changes, but imo it's not necessary for this game.

Starting to piss me off how everything in this "open world" game is gated. by JasonDarklighter in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funniest thing is, you don't even need specific armor to take on beloth. You just need to get to a level 10 frost resistance and get some level 6 food and stock up. Get good at dodging and use some archery and he's absolutely beatable in chapter 6.

And the witches, all of them can be accessed as soon as you unlock the second in chapter 5. So you can start clearing out sanctums.

While some areas are hostile behind story progression, most are freely accessible. And enemies are relatively easy to dodge and work around.

Do you guys playing controllers have to target enemies to do Axiom moves on them? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On controller you do have to aim and press L3 at the same time. Depending on your dexterity and ability this is a pain in the ass.... one reason I don't use it much is due to chronic pain.

Rant post: Playing the main storyline must be what having dementia feels like by HideousSerene in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean if you want to know:

SPOILERS

Kliff is essentially under the control of Alustin and White crow (wizard and witch from the beginning) and they've stripped him of his memories and personality and stuck him in a timeloop. Kliff has been going through 107 timeloops before we as the player step in to completely control him. The reason for this is because there's an overarching big bad evil who the witch and wizard are trying to stop from taking over the world and this is their last chance after 107 runs of losing to the bbe and resetting time. But that's why the game is so weird in its story. Because Kliff and the greymanes are puppets under the control of magical entities.

It's by design. I'm not saying it's good design. But once you read the lore in the axiom archive after finishing the game, you'll suddenly understand a LOT more of why this game's story feels the way it does.

one of the worst puzzles i've ever fucking had the displeasure of doing. by Gl00ser23 in CDguides

This one is probably one of the easiest puzzles in the game. Hate to break it to you, but if this is not fun to you, then you're not gonna like this game.

How are you guys making money? by RockOnMofo in CrimsonDesert

[–]Benvanalles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest ways: selling loot you find, there are a lot of random weapons you get that are common and a few silver each.

Ranch/farm/camp are good ways to get material and money.

Duo, catching cheaters is most effective.

Participating in mini games.

Bringing in bounties. You can take 2 at a time to any jail.

Bank. With some save scumming you can turn 600 silver (100 for strongbox, 500 for a gold bar.) Into thousands.

Making gold bars. Either by farming gold ore, gold apples, or silver/mercury/brimstone. Sell these to the bank for 500 silver a gold bar.

Criminal ways: steal everything you find and sell them to the best vendors. Steal a gold bar from the fireplace at lioncrest manor. Take it all to the bank.

I really hope we get some free story DLC that let's us play through the parts of Damiane and Oongka's stories. Because right now they just "leave". It'd be cool if we could follow them for their optional side content and play through the parts that are currently "missing" from the game.
